  • The one you linked has a 30mm bore and reducing rings - I would avoid that if at all possible, they are a PITA.

80T is too much for a blade that size IMO. If they do a 40-48T that would be my choice for all round use.

0.2mm increase in kerf, I doubt you would notice, its possible the motor might struggle with deeper cuts. I doubt it would foul internally but best to check your manual on the max recommended kerf is.

When you say the rails aren't flat, if they curve away from your workpiece under their own weight, I would say that's no good. If you can return, this could be your opportunity to avoid a lot of hassle.

80 tooth blades that size are great for crosscutting or small chopsaws as it will minimise tear-out and chipping without the hassle of making a 0 clearance insert or backing the workpiece. If you try ripping with one unless the wood is very dry the blade will clog and generate enough heat to dull it almost instantly. Would be ok for MFC.

@ILB erbauer may be a Screwfix brand. It's certainly only sold in the UK by Screwfix (no idea if it even exists outside of the UK). So it's likely that they are taking a leaf out of evolution's book and dropping the price of a saw because only they are able to supply hassle free blade changes (in much the same way that razor blades often cost 2x as much as the actual razor). With regard to the track; you bought a precision tool if you don't think it's precise take it back and get another one or something a bit better. Edit I see you've already decided to take it back.

  • I can see that being a good way of recouping costs, but even in the Screwfix Q&A they admit that they don't stock a replacement blade. Seems mad to me. Still, at least I haven't used the thing before finding out.
