I've got good memories of a couple of CTC (as was) trips I did a decade or so ago, to the Pyrenees and round Albania.
They had an interesting survey a few weeks ago, which I enjoyed doing. Basically it was asking if people preferred:
a. hard core, roughing it, type trips
b. pampered, gastro-trips
c. long haul adventures.
I went for option a.
