I need my wax kit back.

Those with smaller hands and/or wrist/arm/shoulder injuries how do you manage with the current crop of shimano hydro hoods? I did a 2 hour off road ride on the 105 hydro levers yesterday and my hands were fucked!
I don't have the biggest hands in the world, plus have broken wrists, collarbone and separated shoulder in the past couple of years.

The new GRX hoods are long, so size down a stem to maintain the same reach

Tiny, temporary gravel

Dunno about gravel ones but I’ve got Ultegra R8070 and they’re very compact. Smaller than my sram mechanical ones.
I think R8050 may be the non di2 version -

Shimano offers 105 (R7025) and Ultegra (R8025) levers in smaller sizes, which are compatible with 11 speed GRX derailleurs.

Guessing you mean https://www.squirtcyclingproducts.com/portfolio_page/squirtchainlube/
Been using for a few years, love it for dry weather, it's shit for wet. But do like the fact that you keep a nice silver clean chain. And less of that black crud other lubes leave.
Am tempted to stump up and go full home wax chains if it helps for wet miles. -

I rode a Squirted chain for the 120k North London Dirt slop fest last year and it was fine. I do a full chain clean before application though. I ride it all year now and have no issues.

I recently cleaned my drivetrain completely and am trying the Silca stuff. Seems pretty hardwearing but not done too many rides in the crappy weather to see the longevity.

Yep same, full deep clean. Apply to the rollers and leave. Just find it washes out after a while in the wet. Nothing that a re-apply doesn't resolve. This is why I'd like to try home paraffin waxing. How little maintenance can I do and still keep peddling.

I guess we may as well get into chain cleaning protocol…

Why is there a picture of a bike in the middle of this riveting chain lube convo?
I tried the home wax dipping but was not expecting the chain to rust in a matter of days.
Maybe deep clean, wax dip, Squirt lube and plenty of washing/ re- application is the answer.

Squirt has been working really well on my turbo trainer bike...
For those rare outdoors kind of days, I've found Smoove more effective
I'm also edging closer towards becoming a wax nerd

I immersion waxed a few chains in Squirt. Don’t bother. Seemed to need reapplying at the same interval and just shed a lot more wax.
I’m very close to hot waxing, too. Will probably get set up when I run out of Squirt.
Are mods able to remove the bike pic above? It’s quite distracting.

20 is mechanical hydro
25 is bigger lever, shorter reach mechanical hydro
50 is Di2 rim
70 is Di2 hydro -
• #16522
Ok ta, tbf it was only 20% hills I was struggling with
-
• #16523
If it differs for gravel, then yes.

Is that a road bike?

You can also adjust the reach of the levers, have you tried that?
I’ve been Squirting for six months and loving it. Indoor/outdoor, clean/dirty. Squirt away.
