Alas, I'm not that capable - both times I've done it - at the flat and at the new place - kiddo and mrs Howard were staying with my parents. On the latter occasion the cats were in a cattery and the place was empty. Reckon on a good day I could do a good job of it in a day though, so if they were happy avoiding the kitchen and eating takeaway all day it might be possible.

Probably wait for spring so you can have the windows open. I made the mistake of stripping and sealing marble tiles with solvent based products yesterday. Due to the close confines I got extremely high before I realised, then I had a fair size hangover.

Our place has the original Edwardian clay tiles on the front with a loft conversion flat roof on the rear.

The tiles on the front are in need of some tlc; a few have slipped and the cement render on the chimney is looking quite sad.

I also suspect there is little insulation around the loft conversion.

I'd like to do two things - renovate / modernise* / repair the existing roofing and chimney and add insulation to the loft conversion - are these two things doable within one job, and will I have to pull the walls / ceilings down on the inside to do it?

* whilst retaining the Edwardian features / look

Yeah last time I did mine everyone was out.

Fila - Tile and Stone Stripper followed by Lithofin Sealer. I wouldn't say I'm a connoisseur but I've huffed some in my time :)

When I was looking it seems like there are ways to insulate from above while the roof is off and insulate over the rafters. One of the roofers we had round was talking about doing that with TLX Gold but it was pricey and we needed to pull the conversion to pieces anyway and fix all the other problems.

Forum hive mind. I have managed to fuck up my lamp snapping the ball socket joint. Does any one know a place to order parts I have tried searching but can't find the right thing not sure I'm naming the parts I want right in my search

Other option was to get a festool with the saws top tech but for the 5 times a year I'll really use it and the fact that we have other projects on the go, £3.3k seems like a lot of £££

I think you've answered your own question for the amount of times you are going to use it im sure the bosch will do just as good a job. I think the bonus with higher end tools is you can kick the arse out them and they last(mostly)

I've heard good things about that Bosch - it has some nifty features. You could drop in a router and have a router table with it too.

Is using 24mm birch ply for a countertop crazy? (without a laminate top).
