But isn’t it only for making un-roadworthy bike road worthy or some shit?

£50 for two bikes per households. Does that mean £100 overall or £50 between two of them?
-
• #429
Latter, we’re gonna have to be stringent to ensure it not gonna get abused.

I’d say no judging by some of the Shed finds I‘ve seen - even basic stuff like Replacing perished tyres and rusty cables are gonna send you over 100£ easily
Also launching it now when most workshops are booked up for weeks or months - would you rather take on a job Fixing up a cheap bike with a Long winded government Voucher to process or take the easier money....

I read £100 overall somewhere, not sure where.

I think Krisz has moved to Cornwall so no idea who was running it pre-COVID.

Former bespoke and HEX mechanic @Justin_Case was doing the workshop last time I was in there. All the best to Krisz in Cornwall, is he in a bike shop there?

It’s not goodbye… we’re just moving.
From the 12th February, your local Halfords Stoke Newington store will have moved to its new address. Here you’ll find our cycling and motoring experts, ready to help whether you’re on two wheels or four.
We’ll see you there.

Is this just retirement, or in part due to lack of bikes to sell?
-

Or simply not changing/keeping up with the industries.

I bet a fair few Croydonians had a few hundred quid and chose an e scooter over a bicycle. Obviously there's more to it than that but yeah, shame to see them go. I regret selling my old GB to Sargent & Co, lovely bike it was.

I don't know, although it appears to be a sudden decision.
The decision to close down the business was not an easy one, and we were hoping to give people more notice than a day.
I don't think I ever went in after they moved from South End.

There’s a bike shop nearby called King’s and they sell really cheap and nasty bike, cycle republic used to be in Purley not too far.
We get a lots of customers from
Croydon before Halfords decided to stick with Tredz, it can work, just not gonna be easy even in this current climate. -

Can't remember if there was a thread for this again, but the cycle repair voucher is back again:

An opinion was some bike shops not interested, and leave this for the people that are not very informed about bike maintenance.

I just got an email saying East Central Cycles on Exmouth Market is closing down. Shame, I used to use them quite a bit when I worked in Clerkenwell. Last day open is Dec 12th.

Anyone know if Shorter Rochford Cycles still exists?
Their North finchley branch seems to have gone, their social medias haven't been updated in 2 years, and no one seems to answer the phone. Their website doesn't even seem to come up on Internet searches. They were closed on Christmas eve, but no signs saying they were closed and couldn't see inside.
Their ebay still seems to be active however.

The Potters Bar store looked open last time I passed and paid any attention. I'm probably going that way again soon and will try and remember to check.

They are indeed still in business
If it mean they save £50 out of £250, then it make a big difference.
