This is rad! Might pick one up!
Funny that nobody has started a cycling brand with a black metal style logo yet... would look sick.

Thoughts on new Epiphone Inspired by Gibson 335?
-
• #10529
Haven’t tried one, would def like to hear opinions.
Though since I saw/heard Dweezil Zappa’s 336 that he’s flogging on Reverb I only have eyes/ears for a 336...

Want for sure - the only thing that's held me back so far was telling myself that I might be able to afford a Gibson one day...
-

I think I might prefer this to a Gibson but then I'm the sort of idiot who would happily pay to have it refinished in nitro, add Waverly tuners and Lindy Fralin pickups and rewire it and still convince myself it was an "affordable" guitar :)

Ha!
The 'cheap' 335 I was looking at turned out to be a Studio, looks like I'm gonna have to shell out at least $4k for the one I want... I really need to move some guitars out before getting anything new in...

Ha - admittedly there was a point where I was adding up and thought 'well the Epiphone doesn't come with a case and a Gibson would, so that's £100 closer'.
From what I could see, the new 'Inspired by Gibson' ones have been getting great reviews. And I do really like it when a 'cheap' guitar is really good... even if you don't throw extra money at it.

It's the Epiphone, an Edwards, Eastman or if I summon big buyer energy maybe a Navigator but I don't think I'd go for a Gibson myself (possibly an Orville) and Collings is too much buyer energy for the foreseeable future...

I'd buy a Greco SA700 with a tune-o-matic or a Bigsby on it, they can be had for ~AU$2,000, if you can find one... Or anything like a 70s/80s Burny, Edwardes, Tokai, Orville, Yamaha or Ibanez for that matter...
But not an Aria Pro Plus ll, ironically, I can buy one of those today for very little but it just doesn't talk to me, even tho' it was probably made in the same factory as some of those other brands I've mentioned...
Guitarists are dickheads... I just want a Gibson, a black Gibson 335!!

Guitarists are dickheads...
This.
That Greco is absolutely wonderful, I can't fathom why anyone would want to own a Gibson instead of that lovely thing (or any of the other MIJ ones we've mentioned previously) but then I absolutely must at some point own, specifically, a 1972 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe w/ mini-humbuckers, I'm not overly pushed on colour and I don't mind if the condition is so bad it needs a refinish or restoration but I must have one because Justin Vernon.
Guitarists are the worst.

I made the mistake of playing a 70s LP Deluxe once and now feel the same way (except: because Scott Gorham).

Also a well justified reason for GAS. Pretty sure all Thin Lizzy guitarists should qualify.

I should buy that Greco, it was their top of the range model so I can't lose money on it... A little concerned there might be a nasty surprise waiting for me when it arrives but nothing ventured, etc...
A friend had an early 70s sunburst Deluxe, I was never a big fan of it... He adored my '81 Gold Top Standard but that was a beast and played really well compared to his Deluxe... We go after guitars that our heroes played, I've done it forever...
Guitarists are jerks...

I should buy that Greco

@>>>>>> killing the Big Star tones on Insta btw fella. Lovely playing too.
Weirdest thing happened as I was typing this, my 2 yo who is standing behind me starting saying loudly to himself "BIIIIIG STAR... BIIIIIG STAR". Turned around and he was looking at a homemade christmas decoration that he'd pulled out of a drawer.
Freaked me out for a second there.

I just made another stupid nostalgia driven purchase. Found the first pedal I ever owned on Facebook for £40. Been on the look out for one for years so I couldn't not. I'm sure it's gonna sound shit but I don't care because it's the best colour ever and... y'know., fond memories.

Think i mentioned a while back that i found the first pedal my best mate had and bought it for his birthday. Now all we need are my Starforce superstrat, his Squier Strat and matching Squier 15w practice amp, my Peavey Bandit, a pack of Luckies, a 'teenth of hash and a couple of bottles of Jolt Cola.

Hahaha are you insinuating that TS is infact the Dammit of the Guitar Nerds thread?
I was pleasantly surprised to see this released, based on some of the historic ones I was half expecting a Travis jersey
