  • Knew it. Searched both hardcore and punk just couldn’t work out what the thread title I’d seen was.

  • I searched those terms as well but it didn't come up. Had to search the name of someone I remember posting on the thread to find it!

  • Anything and everything on this channel is worth a listen

  • Have been looking for The Adverts first album on vinyl for a reasonable price for a while, Lamacq made it his album of the week on 6Music the other night. It's now not just not a reasonable price anywhere, it's sold out everyfuckingwhere.

    God, I hate Lamacq.

  • @kl you could try Discogs if you have deep pockets, for the original 1978 version or some more recent re-release versions? https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/368468

  • @JoePablo - Yeah, I'm trying to rebuild a record collection from scratch as I gave all mine away a few years back. I've bought almost 250 LPs since lockdown started, so was trying not to buy anything over £30, and this album was just above that. Now because of the twat Lamacq, you're needing to look at double for a version in decent condition.

  • I really didn't want to like them because they have the worst band name I've ever heard, but I'm loving the album and she's proper charismatic. Hoping they'll be playing London in the near future.

  • She's wonderful, she lets herself down with her continuous, lame Miley Cyrus beef but she is very real and very charismatic... I hope showbusiness doesn't smooth out those wonderful rough edges too much... The boys are so fucking dull tho'!

I don't really like the new record, I think it's a step backwards but it's still early days for them so hopefully there's plenty more good stuff to come... My favourite tune of theirs is a very early one, it seems to have dropped off the set list which is a shame, I think it's a beautiful song...

I was sick and missed their last show here in Bris last year, we went into lockdown straight afterwards... They've just left Oz to start promoting the LP, can't believe they're selling out big venues all over the world!!

  • @kl they are, this Tue/Wed at the Electric Ballroom! Unfortunately they're sold out, but they've just announced Brixton on 1st June and a couple of other regional gigs after that.

@>>>>>> I recon the new album will play out well live and am definitely hoping to see them this summer

  • Ah, fuck! Had missed that - and I'm not going to go to the scalpercunts.

Brixton tickets on sale Friday, so will be early in the queue for that.

  • I've got a ticket (paper not digital) for Idles at Brixton O2 on Wed 19th Jan. Just had a text to say all dates are still on. I've decided not to go (am supporting elderly relative with regular visits and can't justify the risk). Anyone want the ticket for free? @kl ?

  • @JoePablo - thanks for the offer, I'm unfortunately too busy this month to go out on a school night - hope you find a good home for it!

  • @kl no problem.

  • New Viagra Boys just out. Punk, post-punk, whatever

  • There's a tribute to Jordan coming up at the Rio cinema : https://riocinema.org.uk/RioCinema.dll/WhatsOn?Film=14751644

  • Anyone in here line up with the London ska/punk scene in the 00's? I got into the likes of capdown just as it was all fading and maybe morphing into sonic boom six and random hand

  • Maybe "UK" is better designator than London, no idea where these bands are actually from. Likes of lightyear, adequate seven, king prawn, jb conspiracy.
Mike Davies/the lock up and p-rock have lot to answer for
