I agree with you, it looks and sounds like the worst of both worlds. Don’t know how they’ve sold. Worst thing for me is that they have bugger all actual acoustic capability and all the tone comes from the digital modelling stuff. I had assumed it was like a mini acoustic that you could also plug in and get electric tones with.
Maybe if you need to do both acoustic and electric parts live and don’t want to take two guitars into the shower.
Edit: I shouldn’t be such a retrogrouch, fair play to Fender for trying something new. It probably just needs one successful artist using one and they’ll take off.
As unlikely as it seems, they must have taken off in some way otherwise the original would have sunk without trace, instead of spawning its hideous Strat and Jazzmaster offspring.
I think you must be right, however much they invested in the R&D, I don’t think Andy Mooney is the kind of bloke who’d fall victim to the sunk cost fallacy and keep plugging away if they weren’t selling well.
