I did say it was basic, or is this about the cyclocross hybrids?

Well I'll be... Many thanks for the leads!

I don't think you've read the thread title lately..

The PBP crown fits a pretty wide tyre, probably a 2.0", haven't given it much thought as long as I could match the frames clearance. The 42mm I have now fits easy.
Fenders are Pelago 45mm which are a bit undersized for the current tyres but fit with room to spare. I actually need a longer L-bracket for the front so I can drop the fender a bit for a nicer fenderline. -

Front rack isn't horizontal, rear rack probably looks a bit weak for the build, no front mech or nw chainring, takes a bit of oomph to get into the granny, little front ring only allows the use of some of the cassette, rear wheel axle is a bit short for the entirety of the threads on the nuts to engage, has those tektro brakes that nobody likes, possibly other issues.
Has done some long day trips with no issues ππΌ -

Very cool! What sort of device did you use to add the rear mech to a Day One?

Excactly.. This thread is supposed to be about function over form.
I admit your bike does not suit my particular aesthetic preferences, but you have solid build going on.Functional bike shaming can >>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I think Josh is just being playful tbf

At least to me the line between playful and spiteful on this forum is barely visible and usually doesn't carry between threads..

Didn't Vitus mess around with similar stays on their steel frames BITD?

We're chatting in text form here, gotta take it all with a pinch of lo-salt. That's what I tell myself anyways, otherwise people will just get wound up.

I'm really refering to the bar/stem/lever positioning.
A simple shuffle of angles would make it look and probably feel much nicer!

Also just reminded myself of this

Meh, I'll take that, looks wise I wasn't really thinking about what bar height/lever angle would look the best.
As far as how it feels, I played with the spacer stack a few times and settled on that quite low position for a touring bike. Did a a few small jaunts and then a London to Bristol ride and it felt great. Main thing I didn't like was having weight of the rack and any front luggage on the steering.I only bought this for the nostalgia as I used to race on one years ago. If I'd decided to keep it I might well have improved the position for longer multi-day trips.

Also got a lil chimney on my mtb for the same reason, haven't dialled the position in just yet

angles
Hmm, now that I look at the picture the levers do look a bit low. But this was the most comfortable position to sit my wrists on the bars when riding on the hoods.

One has to expect that dry British humour of ribbing in oneself and their palsβ from a British centric forum, for they are unable to express their emotions in any other way than a cup of tea, good sir!
for it is common for one fellow to comment to another about their dissatisfaction rather rudely and abruptly, in a manner that someone who did not go through such a gruelling and Spartan system as a British state school would find off putting and mean spirited!
alas, neither actually care, itβs more to show endearment, to spark some βpatterβ, some βbanterβ, the pulling of ones leg, trying to get a rise out of an esteemed fellow patron in a game of chicken for showing who cares the most
not from I tho! One only practices the strictest of earnest and sincere sentiments on this discussion of fine bicycles and bicycle culture

I would like to say that I get it - which I guess just means I really don't..
I should probably just delete my account and go back to lurking for the occasional useful tip.
Great Builds, all three! Fonlupt used similar seatstays:
So does this Hinault:
