  • doesn’t excite me

  • Is there a way to block/hide an ebay seller? Or block listings with specific keywords? Lots of things I have saved searches for bring up 42,000 results every day by VidaXL. Can I block/hide anything VidaXL?

  • In Advanced search, you can exclude/include items from a specific seller.

  • Have HMRC stopped card payments for VAT? I can't find the option to pay by card. Clicking the link that should direct me there just loops into options I can use (which mentions card, I click card, it takes me to options).

I've only just submitted the return but in previous returns the link has functioned no matter when I submitted the return / when I tried to pay it. Have they updated it?

Edit: found it - they've moved it and it's properly obfuscated. Very strange. To give you an idea - I can't actually find it again now. And the first time I tried to pay it didn't let me input my registration number and showed in the completed pre submission form 'something went wrong'. Click back and tried again and it worked.

  • Have HMRC stopped card payments for VAT?

Yes, just post them cash. I'll pm you my their address.

  • Sign in to tax portal. View VAT account. Check what you owe. Pay now. Debit card. Enter details.

That’s the flow I followed to pay mine while writing this very post, seemed pretty sensible to me.

  • Or a horse.

  • And I'm sure that's how it was, and is how I've done it in the past, but it wasn't that today. I can't recall the steps but nothing like that was available to me. It may have been because they need a day or two after the return is submitted for the balance to appear but usually on the 'ways to pay' page there's a very clear trail of 'pay online by card' > 'pay now' > enter details. I've used that for years but it seemed broken earlier and just looped.

  • The real shitter is the percentage on top they charge for business card transactions vs paying with a personal debit card.

  • But you can just pay via online banking which doesn't have a fee. That's how I've always paid my vat.

  • Convenience of a card vs logging into clunky banking app and doing 100 security steps.

  • Once a payment has been set up it's way quicker than paying by card. Even when I was with HSBC it was pretty seamless but I switched to starling bank and their banking app is lightyears ahead of anything else.

  • they not very hipster of you

  • I was targetting my suggestion to the intended audience.

  • I never trust myself to get the details right. Which is stupid I know. Next time.

  • A late 90s- Early 2000s shoe brand.. trainers but not ‘athletic’ type, more fashion shoes. Popular with crasher-kids and clubbers. Slightly built-up soles and possibly Velcro - I think the brand began with A.. maybe used A in their logo.. please someone help my addled memory.

  • Acupuncture i reckon

  • I reckon you might be right there.

  • It’s tricky because attitudes/rules for getting tests vary regionally.
Based on what you say, your attitude is reasonable - getting a test is only allowed if you have symptoms, which you don’t have, so getting a test would require you to lie - so your reluctance is understandable.

However, if your boss is under the assumption that anyone can get a test (rightly or wrongly), your position of reluctance seems potentially uncooperative.

Each person’s stance on the matter is defined by their belief about what testing is available. If you’re not allowed to get a test without symptoms, clearly you’re in the right. If anyone can get a test regardless of symptoms, it might appear you’re being awkward.
The reality lies somewhere in the middle no doubt, and clarity about who can get tested is probably the favourable way to resolve this.

On a similar note, if anyone can get tested, the employer should be making that clear and providing evidence to that effect. HR will hopefully clear this up (although I appreciate that might be naively optimistic on my part).

In short tho, if you can’t get a test without lying and they’re trying to bully you into it, that’s bullshit, and HR won’t have a leg to stand on.

  • There are 2 test centres in Haringey specifically for people with no symptoms, is there definitely not anything like that where you are @Constable_Savage?
