• Mail from Anna, looks like people who lost out in the ballot will get places, plus opportunity for others from underrepresented minorities.

    I've learned a new word!

    —-------—--------------------------------

I am writing to let you know we are inviting a limited number of new applications to race TCRNo8 in 2021 from women, womxn and people of colour.

The Transcontinental has maintained a positive action policy since its inception. Part of Lost Dot's role in continuing Mike Hall’s legacy involves our work in facilitating better representation of under-represented groups in competitive cycling.

We are seeking new applications to race TCRNo8 from women, womxn and people of colour. All Transcontinental applicants must have some experience of solo and unsupported travel or adventure (not necessarily racing experience) and an understanding of unsupported adventure racing (information is available at transcontinental.cc).

If you feel you match the criteria for application described above please access the first stage of the application process (eligibility) at lostdot.cc (TCRNo8 New Applications 2021). Applications are open until February 26th.

Due to general uncertainty around travel restrictions the initial deposit payment will be delayed until April 2021.

Please assist us by spreading the word and help us achieve Lost Dot and Mike Hall’s ambition of an inclusive race that reflects and celebrates the many and varied individuals in our communities.

Find out more at lostdot.cc - TCRNo8 - New Applications 2021. Any questions please email race@transcontinental.cc.

    Best wishes

    Anna

    Notes:

We are aware this announcement may disappoint some people but we are not accepting new applications for TCRNo8 from any other applicants. We have offered the opportunity to race to the unsuccessful applicants from 2020 (selected via ballot). Our policy of positive action is not a subject we welcome negative feedback on.

We are aware that language and terminology is highly important and Lost Dot’s aim is to be as inclusive as possible and avoid offensive or problematic language. Lost Dot are open to any feedback on the issue of language and inclusivity from the people we are trying to reach, we want to learn
