For the 40kkitchen crowd it's all about the off-shore pension. Pull out half at 55yo, plus ring-fencing assets from your spouse so when you hit 50 and you're bored of them and the Ti bike they got for your 40th they don't get half.
PM me for more details.

hey don't get half.
By that you mean get another family? Get 2 Ti bikes?

If a serious question:
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/isa-guide-savings-without-tax/
What is an ETF ISA?
An exchange traded fund (ETF) are funds that issue shares which are traded on a stock exchange. Because these investments are made within the tax-efficient ISA wrapper, ETF ISAs are not subject to capital gains tax or income tax.

Isn’t that just a stocks and shares ISA?

Yes BUT
The problem is that not all funds are approved by HMRC and therefore are not included in the wrapper.
The general thought is buy a tracker fund if you want long term saving growth. But i would like one in the ISA as it give you extra savings (and compound growth) by not costing CG and Tax free. But you cant get trackers in the ISA wrapper (or not that i can see. IE US trackers are not available as they are US funds).
So i was looking for an ETF that is an ISA wrapper that mirrors a tracker fund.
So far the suggestions are not recognised by my broker. I think the problem is that one can only use one ISA a year.

I think you are getting slightly confused... ETFs are exchange traded funds (large groupings of individual equities) which can be bought and sold just like individual equities. Most common ETFs will be able to be purchased through a standard S&S ISA account (alongside other managed funds/trusts) and held inside that ISA wrapper
an example of an ETF would be be INRG - which seeks to track the performance of an index composed of 30 of the largest global companies involved in the clean energy sector

Why doesn't Vanguard do what you want? They have low cost trackers available in their S&S ISA. Have you already opened/contributed to an S&S ISA this tax year?
-
• #2416
vanguard and ishares both offer ETFs tracking the performance of them. what broker are you using for your ISA? i'd be very surprised if they didn't offer ishares or vanguard ETFs
