SP were weirdly aggressive about it when I switched through, guy on the phone wouldn’t accept I’d already decided to leave and was too busy to listen to his sales pitch/regulator waffle. I made the point that if he could offer me a better rate, why wasn’t it available in the switching sites and that when they did that I’d be perfectly happy to switch back.
Happened to me recently too. Moved from Tonik to Scottish Power. We got moved to their most ‘similar’ tarrif with the option to switch or move to another provider once change over had completed. No obligation whatsoever to stay with SP
