  • Built with the new Mavic open ust rims today. Finish has changed and so has the erd. Its now 596mm. The claimed mass is 430g but its 500g in reality. It built up O.K but i struggle to see the point in now.

  • Thanks, any particular Park model?

  • struggle to see the point in now

I like the way they look if that counts for anything. A bit surprised by 500g though.

  • @thecycleclinic apologies if you have already said this somewhere but will you be selling your disc hubs in silver soon?

  • I have a set that have been polished and going to have cerakote applied. That pushes the price up alot.

I have a local firm though who i am working with to produce my hubs in suffolk. Prices won't be steep and silver is on the cards plus lead times will be shorter. East Anglian made.

  • Yeah I saw those on your instagram, very shiny! When do you expect regular stock?

  • that set once coated is north of £500. Its all very labour intensive. production hubs will be made silver from the start so should not be much more than the balck hubs depending on the finish. Anodising is cheaper than cerakote.

  • Cool thanks. Will keep an eye on your instagram and get some of the production ones when the come in.

  • Anyone know what rims Wiggle use on their Prime Kanza wheels. I like the wider but not too wide rims for running 30-32mm tyres on my Giant.

  • It seems my usual dealer has stopped selling Kinlin rims.
Any leads out there for other EU dealers?

Ideally after 3x rim brake 28h XR22T in matte.
Also wondering if I should do asymmetric in the back or not.

  • @LeMesjeu https://www.bikehubstore.com/Kinlin-XR22T-p/xr22t.htm has 28h ones left. for the offset, what hub are u using? Usually the rimoffset gives you a bit more balance of tension between the left and right spokes, for a longer life

  • https://www.spacycles.co.uk/m20b0s116p3767/KINLIN-XR-22T @LeMesjeu I was going to order the XR31 from them as they seemed the only place with stock.

EDIT: Shoot, I forgot we aren't in the EU anymore. Dammit!

  • Thanks for the link, but it looks like they are US?

Hubs will be an old set of Hugi 240's and a Contec Powerhouse dynamo hub, which is a rebranded KT JH-KD5F.

Looks like @cycleclinic also has some in stock, how much will post brexit import hurt me?

  • aah yes, it's a US site. sry but no idea what the import fees are currently.

  • hey i was just about to purchase my hub... when i realized ambrosio zeniths probably are not the "zeniths" you were talking about.
    i mean these: https://www.totalcycling.com/Mobile/en/Ambrosio-Zenith-Large-Flange-Track-Hub---Rear/m-m-17294.aspx

    are not these:https://thecycleclinic.co.uk/collections/hubs/products/zenith-track-hubs-front-or-rear-24h-28h-or-32h-black-or-silver

which im guessing is the model you were talking about... i clearly see another design in the bearing locking system.

    ...mmh i'm a bit upset :)

  • I dont know who makes the ambrosio zenith hubs. I think i once knew what it was but have forgotten.

I they look like formula hubs which are cheaps as fish and chips.

  • yeah. but those "zeniths" on your site ( i take that is you...?) definetely don't look like formulas, cheap like fish n chips :) ...so i was wondering if you have some info on them. thank you! ;D

    ty!

  • The zeniths on my site are better hubs. Not the same manufacturer as the ambrosio hubs. Totally different and not as cheap as fish and chips. The formula hubs are though and for the money i buy the formula hubs for i can get fish and chips , curry sauce, mushy peas and a can of coke.

Your comparing tesco oranges and sicilian oranges.

  • DT RR411 fits your criteria, might also end up cheaper than importing xr22t.

  • There no import duties only customs clearance charges and import vat. In any case the cycleclinic.eu is going to happen. I have an agreement with a fulfillment centre, it just a case of integrating stock with with there inventory system. Perfect isnt it.

Shipping to the eu has become a big problem but i am still sending stuff. It is just taking time for it to clear customs. Back of the queue probably in Britain's case.

The rr411 is a bit narrower and shallower than the xr22t. It also has a 2mm offset vs 3mm for the kinlin for the rear rim. The bead hook is smaller too which is not so good for the tyre. The kinlin is the better rim in many ways. The dt swiss rim won't have to clear customs.

  • I'm glad for you extending your operation.
I've no interest in challenging the virtues of kinlin,
merely stating a perfectly adequate no faff alternative.

  • Well the dt swiss rim would be easier to buy in europe for sure.

  • The EU webshop sounds interesting, any idea when this will go live? Can still wait a couple weeks for rims.

  • It will take longer that. Its alot of work.
