nowhere near worth that.

£300
Unless you are some weird BMC fanboi there's nothing there that's particularly valuable. Everything is old enough to be from a past era.

Nobody in this century deserves cantis
-
• #8555
imo, cantis are better than discs for racing, unless someone else maintains your bike
-
• #8556
Pah predictably no go.

Acceptable canti bikes to buy:
Empella (gotta have Campag)
Ridley
Stevens
Paul Milnes -

i think cantis are fine. do you have more of a need for stopping power/braking performance than the world's best cross riders in 2008? you do not.
as chalfie said, the main annoyance is that they become a magnet for grass and mud, and they wear down your rims faster.
i am gonna go ahead and say that Tektro CR720 plus some good aftermarket pads are as good as you need.

I have no issue with them, but it should be reflected in the price.

If your not looking for disc's then FB marketplace always has cheap(ish) canti bikes where people are upgrading. CX buy and sell group is pretty good.
-
• #8562
yeah you should be paying well under 500 for a 5-10 year old cross bike. maybe around 200(?) for a nice frame like a CAAdX?
-
• #8563
Agreed. Otherwise might as well go pretty modern and use bits from my current road bike in the interim.

Paul Milnes
Thought those cross frames were something else rebadged.
No love for Cinelli MASH? -
• #8565
They're Ridley rebadged, apparently

There is zero logic to this statement. It's not 2008 and our competitors are not using 2008 technology.
I sold my canti Cruxes for 475 and 495 in 2020 and that was only cos of covid tax. 750 for that BMC is a rip-off.

My cross bike is also my touring bike. Disc brakes plz.

• #8568
Mine was also, Mini V though.

older super x

• #8570
My Thorn touring tandem is also rocking Vs. Has a drag brake though

Yes but unless you’re bothering the top 10 in your local series I can’t imagine canti’s being a major disadvantage.

I hear MVDP is training on a Riverside 920 when he's not hopping sand ruts in races

Geekhouse is back!

Cantis still win local races!
-

So do singlespeeds but gears are still faster. Cantis are OK (I was still always top 10 on mine a couple of years ago) but discs are without doubt better. Even if super hitters (CC @fredtc) can win without them, they'd win by more with them.
its a nice geo for a gravel/adventure, without being one or the other. i'd ride it - i am in that demographic - but that's the vibe i'm getting from people i know who bought it
