I'm between getting something like a Mason Bokeh for longer type racing off road and maybe a bit of cx and riding with my daughter, which I can use current wheelset and gradually build.
Or get something more cx focused for maybe racing and the above.
It depends:
Canti:
you'll buy new rims more frequently
they squeal
"better modulation" = better racing
discs:
you'll not buy wheels so often....
they squeal
they brake hard
Mostly though, you'll want to consider mud clearance (if you're racing).
