Given the growing similarities between Nazi Germany and the current Chinese government, it's not a total surprise.
In honesty a lot of people love a dictator as long as the boot isn't on their neck. If it's on the neck of some local "other" or that of another country, it's all good. Even better if it's in the past so you can make some sort of bullshit argument about historical perspective to justify admiration of some of the biggest mass murderers of all time.

Hitler has a lot of fans in Asia. They're just as ignorant of (or not giving a fuck about) the European bit of WWII as Westerners are of most Asian history. Also, in Asia it's the Brits, the French, the Dutch and Americans who are remembered as murdering colonialist assholes (the short-lived German empire never got that far), so he scores points for being the enemy of those imperialists. Bit more complicated in India but basically the same story.
To be fair, a lot of people in China openly love Hitler. One of my colleagues said that he was very handsome, albeit a bit short.
