It a hilariously angry wank piece from someone who was very swiftly became irrelevant and is trying so desperate to.
Just as an add on. ALL motorcycle sales in Europe are down (10% for mopeds? and that's mostly for deliveroo/uber).
It has nothing to do with it being a more viable mode of transport, it's simply that the new generation isn't interested, just like they're not interested in car ownership. Why buy a big expensive machine when a stand up scooter is a fraction of that cost and feels like you're doing 100mph and gets you around faster around town.
Whole thing is a bit 'get off my lawn'.

Spain is built for sportsbikes its fantastic.
First year we rode all the way down through France, then across to the Picos de Europa, then to the Pyrenees, all the way down to the Balearic coast, followed the coast up into France, back through the mountains, and hammered it all the way back through France again. Second year we caught the ferry which is a much better way of doing it haha, and did northerns Spain and into Portugal, down as far as Lisbon. Cannot recommend highly enough. -

Various mc dealers, new and used specific have gone under this year due to 1) c19 not helping, but 2) mc sales keep going down in this part of the world*
*because of every reason already mentioned. Folk just aren't as interested. Also go look at sailing/yachting/boating in general, more sail boats are being sold for literally £zero or exported to other countries where there is marginally more demand. The things people are interested in is changing, for me (30 something) and others I know, its not lack of interest, its that huge % of your annual income is soaked up in rent/mortgage, way more than the previous 2 generations who did have available spare cash doing similar jobs.
Recently heard the saying "If it floats, flies or fucks, rent it". And yeah, I can see where that comes from!
Scooter sales are way up (used prices are mental) as for a lot of folk its now a necessary way to work (if they don't have a car license). I'm seeing 3-5 year old scooters with normal miles and less than nice condition sell for barely £500 less than new, mental.

For the record, I’m not agreeing with the article. I just posted it to stir the pot.
Seems that some used prices are rising unrealistically, and small capacity (especially L-plate-friendly) are ridiculous. I had only lowball offers on my GN125 last year but those people will still be waiting for a usable MOT-worthy bike to come up at breakers-spares price. Decided to keep it, it was worth more in parts than the offers I got anyway.
Probably if I listed it tomorrow I’d get more than it’s worth. If it was a scooter I’d be laughing.

Thanks for this, need something to distract me from starting work. Yesterday thought I'd found a new contender... BMW G450x, then I looked up the service intervals.

These are mega man! I've fitted some wishdotcom specials on the BigBoy (still the most unfortunate name for a bike ever possibly) but might look into something like this, maybe a set of Speedplays ;)
Also a good reminder to renew my learner permit I literally haven't made use of once since I got it :(

Does ANYONE actually sit there for one hour of their life and watch this sort of thing? 5 seconds and I am off.

If you want to do all the mods, it’s useful watching them make all the mistakes for you.
They did loads on the DR650 which was quite useful.
It was also these guys fitting a screen (among other things) to a DR-Z400 that gave me some ideas for fitting the DR350.

It's useful if its for your bike and your debating fitting some new stuff yourself, seeing if it makes a difference smh genuinely "just bolts in" or requires other modifications.
Working out how to get more shock in rear of funduro. It's always been a bit low, spring is 25 years old and tired, damper still feels nice but with luggage, she low. Maybe just get a new spring with one rating higher.

Sometimes I put them on in the background while I’m eating or doing other stuff on my own. Blame lockdown, I guess.

My upstairs neighbours have constant parties/mates around, they think if they keep the curtains shut no one will notice their mini indoor rave, yeah, remember your neighbours.
When they aren't having a party every 3rd night (seriously, every 3rd night for months now), they are just getting wasted and listening to a recording of a video chat from a few months back, really loudly on repeat for hours. I'm assuming they are in some kind of depression spiral/mourning.
Meanwhile me, 11pm at night, watching videos of terribly put together helmet cam footage of "man on mc goes... 'adventure biking' in some part of USA, #solo camping #adv #men on bikes #I bought one of those folding camp chair things #and the adapter so I can mount it to my 1250GSA edition edition"
Yeah, thats the level the entertainment has dropped to in our block lol. -
