OT: DJ equipment. Pioneer controller, A&H mixer

  • Selling these bits in order to fund a new mixer.

The DDJ was a Christmas present year before last. Great little toy and intro to digital DJing - with streaming especially. It uses a phone/tablet and controls your tracks. You used to be able to mix stuff off Spotify, which has since been replaced with Tidal - but there’s loads more to it than that.

It’s been kept in the box and had relatively little use - I upgraded to a Denon Prime GO which is just more advanced. Retailing at £140 and going for around £100-£140 on eBay. Asking £100.

Next is a mint condition Allen & Heath Xone32. These were the absolute real deal when I started out and never dreamt of owning one then, but after a long hiatus I upgraded to it at the end of 2019. Just a generally excellent fully analogue mixer or, as the person I bought it off had been using it, a high quality phono preamp. The filter is fantastic and the sound is really warm. I’ve just decided to move onto something else which has more features and digital capabilities. I paid £225 for it. None for sale on eBay at the moment (unless you count the joker asking for a grand for one), but looking at completed listings for anything in this condition £150 is a fair price. It will come with a kettle lead. I’ll see if I can find the box in the loft, but I don’t think I have it anymore, as unfortunately I think it got dumped in an office move after I left it there.

Payment via PayPal and collection only in E17 for both.

  • What mixer are you getting?

    GLWS

  • Cheers! Undecided. Currently thinking about the Xone43 or 43c. Also the Reloop RMX60 looks really good, but I have had a bad experience in the past with off-brand DJ stuff (a Numark mixer). Think I’m going to be best off investing in the A&H.

  • Nice mixer - how have you got your cross fader cut off set?

Mine used to be set to perfection but my kids love a fiddle and now it's totally changed. I think every single button and dial has been twizzled or prodded

  • Hahaha. Sounds like the situation I have with little fingers all over my amp.

I tend to have it set slightly down the slope from the shortest cut-in, so the incoming track is at about 80%-85%, but I’ve been just using the upfaders mostly now. One thing I’ve not gotten along with on the Xone is the gains at the back. I find there’s a huge amount of variation in pressing volume in my collection, which I’ve adapted to compensate with via the headroom on the upfaders - which in fairness is quite a lot.

  • Yeah I used to find that a bit of a wind up. My mixes were all altered quite a lot post recording. My Sound Forge fu was / is pretty weak though, so it's probably quite noticeable.

I used to hanker after an Xone64 - that's probably really showing my age.

If I knew then what I know now, I'd have photographed all the settings. Never mind!

  • There are so many cool mixers that I would have loved back in the day. These spring to mind. Couple of Vestax, the classic Technics one and the outrageously futuristic Pioneer.

I started out with something akin to Buck Roger’s console (plastic Vestax thing). Then I had an absolute POS Numark which made me swear to avoid that brand forever - found a pic. Then I got the Tascam XS-4 which served me well for years and I still absolutely love.

    (Edit: pic uploads not working)

  • I started with something blue, cheap and with BPM counters, something else, then a Vestax PMC05 pro and the xone32, I loved the PMC. I did my only ever decent bit of cutting and scratching with it, all three seconds of it.
The Xone 32 is probably my favourite out of the lot. Who doesn't love wanging the filter about

  • The mixer is no longer for sale, but need the DDJ out of my way, so big price drop on that to £75 and I’ll throw in some perfect-accompanying Logitech PC speakers. Picture not mine, but exactly the same. Have served me well for years, but I need space and don’t use them since getting a Minirig.

On that note I’m also selling two Bluetooth speakers. Anker A3143. Really nice piano black thing. £20. Other is a UE Megaboom. Needs no introduction, it properly kicks. Comes with original USB cable. £50.

    Collection in E17. PayPal gift.

  • DDJ is sold to @mbretton - thanks!

The Logitechs are still available and will be free to anyone with a forum donation.

  • Bump for the speakers. If they don’t go today, will be selling on Facebook instead.
