  • Blimey, pretty dinged up!

  • In your opinion is that a reasonable defence.
If it is give me your companies address cos I’m going to drink a bottle of white cider and burgle the place.
(I should point out I have no intention of actually doing this and am indeed teetotal).

I have been asked to ask an employee to get a Covid test at the end of self isolation. I swerved it.

  • Ah. I am sure you're right. I just thought a 9/10/11 SRAM cassette worked with the Shimano HG body (but may need a spacer) unless it has a 10t sprocket, in which case XD.

It's exactly ^ this ^ type of hassle that has me stuck on 10-speed friction-shifting!

  • I have been asked to ask an employee to get a Covid test at the end of self isolation. I swerved it.

The gov website clearly says an employer can't. They can pay a company to administer a test.

  • Paint it

It’s already painted, with a paint that I don’t think I can easily acquire.

  • for a next build to keep current gear (no disc brakes in the fleet) considered either going for canti or mini-v, to keep options for road brake levers, but it seems like it could be worth going for V-brakes instead (even if options are more limited for levers).
what would be the forum recommended option if there is one for a good solid V-brake, without breaking the bank? (in silver would be even better)

  • He then accidentally sent me a msg, not intended for me saying I was being a prick and not wanting a test and that he'd get rid of me.

    Congratulations!

You now have free reign to shit on bonnets as the fancy takes you and if any of it hits the fan, you can just produce this Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free card.

  • Not used and I have had good results with these in the past https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363126485259

  • At last an expert in the field! What victory dance should I practice for the future meeting?

  • Interesting, but I think we both know I wasn't trying to claim any actual legal right to bear arms!

Whether officially binding or not, a quick Google search shows multiple sources with the same crest and motto for both families, and I found that curious so wondered if anyone knew more.

Late response, but generally in the UK ( and most Western European countries) Heraldry is owned by a specific individual. Family crests and coats don’t exist, arms are owned by a single armiger (one who owns the arms) and transmitted father to son. Second, third, fourth sons would have devices that would indicate so.

I don’t think there are rules governing motto, you have multiple clans using “Touch not the cat but a glove.” Technically clan crests are the personal property of the clan chief, anyone however can display a clan’s “crest badge” in a single colour.

  • It must a mime - the International Language.

Imagine all the TikTok likes you could accrue.

  • I'm requesting a haka, with 'you're fucking nicked son' as a chant.

  • Only the initial consultation is free (refer to the T&C you agreed to, by replying to me).

Further advice may be obtained by appointment (subject to a negative Covid test).

It looks like the cheaper Sram 11-speed mountain bike cassettes are only compatible with 11-speed road free hubs, strangely enough.

The Shimano mountain bike (and HG700) cassettes biggest cog is offset towards the spokes, so they can fit that extra cog on there. Doesn't look like anyone else does it.

I think I might raid the spare parts box and return to 10 speed, seems to have been a price hike on 11 speed kit nowadays (or there's enough demand that nothing is on offer).

  • I think some of the sunrace ones will work, but look into it properly.

  • It looks like the cheaper Sram 11-speed mountain bike cassettes are only compatible with 11-speed road free hubs, strangely enough.

SRAM cassettes divide by size, with 11-40t and up having the MTB-type dishing and anything smaller needing an 11-speed road freehub.

  • Can anyone advise on a -17 degree stem with a 32mm lower faceplate bolt spacing?

  • When I was younger, or not even that long ago, I'm sure people referred to finding out the sex of a baby.

    Now everyone always says gender.

    1. Is this true or am I miss remembering.
    2. Why would people now use gender, when my understanding is the general progressive view is gender is a societal construct, where as sex is xx vs xy. So isn't "sex" even more appropriate now than before?

    Cheers.

  • The rise of a gender reveal party probably has a lot to play in this.
Sex Reveal Party sounds more like an orgy.

  • I'm blaming Americans.

  • I did wonder about that.

My feeling is that people's change in description roughly corresponded with that.

Gender reveal parties are one of the few silent bugbears of mine.

I try really hard to be positive and think it's nice that parents to be are just trying to extract those last few moments of joy. But inside I think it's gash.

  • I'll take that.

Will now start getting on my high horse saying it's a neuro-linguistic programming move introduced by the Christian Right in the States to reinforce gender norms.

  • people referred to finding out the sex of a baby. Now everyone always says gender.

It's the new prudishness. Outside academic discussion, gender has always been a euphemism for sex.

  • I try really hard to be positive

Don't even waste your time trying. The whole concept is just another revolting manifestation of the deeply unpleasant culture of one-upmanship which pervades almost every aspect of life which used to be considered private.

  • I'm looking for EC44/33 lower headset ( 1 1/4" aka 1.25" external). seems to be an obscure size as I cant find anything other than Cane Creek 40 / 110. Anyone got a link to something a bit more wallet friendly?

Or could I use a semi integrated adaptor headset of some sort? Bit confused by the standards tbh.
