I thought Shimano pretty much announced Road Boost as a thing 18 months ago when they announced GRX with its 2.5mm wider chainline?
So GRX 2 x equiped 700c x 50 / 29 x 2.2. Cool. Needed? Absolutely not. Nice to have options though.

Only five?

I was being specific to gravel, but yes, fair point.

Does anyone remember that video-meme of the spanish(?) guy crying laughing and the subtitles are about gravel marketing? I can’t find it but it deserves a repost. It never fails.

only the DBAD version should exist

I mean there’s probably loads and that’s a good one but the gravel one is just to die for.

Indeed :(

The +2.5mm chainline effectively corrects a traditional 45mm road chainline to better match disc hub rear spacing (135/142mm spacing). You’d be looking at a couple more mm’s for a boost corrected chainline

it's 2029
we're in the grip of super covid v2
noone has been outside for 6 years
everyone pretty much lives in domes and everything is bezos droned to your door
zucc just beat out musk to be president of earth and mars colonies after a fierce tiktok campaign war
you log onto lfgssz (london fixedgearsinglespeedzwift)
the gravel thread is now 304923492304pages long
80% of those pages are just comments on what tyres fit on a 2015 cdf, where to buy a vintage kinesis and how they're the only real cyclist left
first time in months a post is made which doesn't fall into one of these categories
"shimano corp release new grx2 groupset, now with boost plusplusxtrawide standard, now takes 5 spoke alloys and ceramic disc brakes, the new crank set is now a whole 15cm more outboard for a straight chainline, all new frames will come with foxes microsupensionextreme front carbon fork and e-motor"
you close the laptop
open the door of your bubble
taking your first breath of unfiltered air in 6 years
you promptly stick a tubeless inflator to your skull and commit death by nocountryforoldmen
you're at peace

i mean the failure of an entire industry's business model cannot be laid at the feat of consumers who aren't being charitable enough

Someone better hurry and make a HH version to calm everyone down.

That's where I stopped reading

I looked at those but think they only work for Shimano cranks. So the missus would've got lower gearing but my gravel bike wouldn't have. Something like that, I can't remember but they were considered.

where to buy a vintage kinesis
So, you think I should hang on to the Tripster then?
-

Yeah don't think they do sub compact for rotor. Tempted by them, but they are £170 the pair Vs £80 for bikingreen. This is where I always get. Adding it all up Vs keeping what I got and using the money on spares.

nice, shame no mention of XC or what happened to the great discussion of 'XC bikes ARE gravel bikes'
Then there are obvious omissions such as wheel size etc but I am guessing they reached their natural conclusion

'XC bikes ARE gravel bikes'
Only in the instance of no dropper post 😉
Cheap option would have been the absolute black sun compact rings.
