Would it help if after the clean and dry we put a dehumidifier in for a few days?
Yea - or maybe keep a humidifier there constantly?
Would it help if i drilled holes in the top and bottom of the door for airflow?
Yes, probably not a lot though

Caged bearings are used largely as a convenience for assembly
Not strictly true, the cages are there to reduce friction and therefore heating in high speed bearings. Obviously this is moot in something which rarely goes over 100rpm 😉 Hubs had loose balls for decades (and many still do) and they typically rotate at three to four times crank speed.

don't even know any bearing shops let alone have a fave one !
Use my fave then
https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/p37908/1/8-inch-Diameter-Grade-10-Hardened-52100-Chrome-Steel-Ball-Bearings/product_info.htmlIf you go down the loose ball route, you will need more than the number in the cages, usually one extra per side in a BB
could you link to that german seller
Search eBay.co.uk for BB-7400, that's what I did.

Pretty safe bet in the context of this conversation.

Sounds like an issue with moisture that can't escape condensing against the cold (external?) wall.
I would think about whether the air in your upstairs has any way of refreshing or circulating, and whether particularly damp air - from a bathroom or a bedroom - has any way of escaping.

I’ve recently bought a second hand genesis longitude and looking at the drive side seat-stay and it curves out slightly more than the NDS one. Is this to accommodate the extra space needed for the casette? There’s a scuff right at the point of the curve which makes me suspicious but I realise I’ve never owned a bike that had curved tubes.

Anyone know what those specialized stout pro xc hubs are like?
Looking for a wheelset with wide rims and those specialized wheels are around with wtb i45 rims.
So wondering if they are novatec or whatever and if there are spares available?

I presume you didn't order a medium?

you know sometimes you think you're going mad. Pal ordered Small, box had small written on it (just in marker pen) there was a scrap of paper that said Kuota frame XS and I've just measured up for him as he thought he was going mad and, err, yeah, looks medium. I guess the obvious fail-safe (huge margin of error so unlikely to mis-measure) is that head tube (D) with the S being a full 20mm shorter

Does anyone know what the seemingly enormous film shoot is around Holborn/Lincoln's Inn Fields? I think actual filming is in the Kingsway Underpass right now and there are security everywhere. Production codename may be be 'Vengeance' or 'Vengeance Splinter' which is written on some of the vehicles.
Edit: hunch is it's the new Batman

I'd certainly use the Rapha ones if not already dibsed...

Looking for a mid-range (11-32/36) 11 speed cassette to go on a 8/9/10 speed freehub. It looks like all the 11 speed mountain bike stuff is wide-range nowadays. Does that just leave the HG700 105 11-34?

Looking for good options on mini V-brakes (Paul minimoto seem out of budget at the moment).
Any good options from Shimano or Tektro used on the forum?
(in silver preferably but not mandatory) -

The last two pages of the Road Fixed thread is mostly about Shimano mini V brakes.

I need to replace my pedals soon. Currently using Look S Track but they're knackered now and seemingly impossible to service.
I was thinking of replacing them with a pair of Shimano ES600 SPD because I think they look alright and I like the idea of a larger contact platform (nearly all of my riding is on road). Has anyone used them? Anything else to consider that's not absolutely minging?

If you're interested in sticking with S-Tracks for a while, I have two pairs I'm not using any more. Still in good nick and one set has the cage platforms on. You can have them for postage or nothing if London-based.
