BTW, Robinhood (from an interview with Robinhood) may have done this because DTC upped their upfront collateral requirements for gme/lot due volitility. From around 2% to 100%. But as it only applies to buy side but not sell. And instead of raising short term loan, they decided to restrict their clients.
DTC is the clearing house and owns 95% of the market. And while they process it, they ask for collateral.
But my thoughts would be that they'd have asked citadel for the loan and they'd have denied them.

But the optics are horrible. And fines and jail time should be dealt.

I think this largely depends on what you plan to invest it in. Are there any parallels between the portfolio SW held for you and what you intend to do with it?

SEC report
As I understand it, that's not an SEC publication, but third party commentary.
There is no counterfeiting of shares - as far as I can tell, it's an analogous simplification.

The use of the phrase ‘rocket science’ in the abstract was a bit of a warning sign.

Could this actually work?
Edit: after doing some more reading on it, it seems like it could just be designed to distract from GME; or it's a very possible situation that has the potential to crash major financial markets.

I'm only just starting to pay more attention (hence the SIPP and transfer) but I think that SW was quite reliant on property which was doing badly. Very roughly, in the last 9 months the SW return was 6% and Vanguard was 12%.

Cheers, poor choice of words, realised it might not be official when they misused who/whom at the start.

Good suggestion for anything pre-2016 and post-2021.
Edit- I regret any additional mud I may stirred into these waters. Given the trump admin’s systematic dismantling of govt. watchdogs, I wouldn’t be surprised if something like this happened. That shouldn’t bias observation of current events.

Possibilities:-
a) It's a pump and dump on SLV designed to prey on the people who missed out on the early gains of GME
b) It's a distraction from the hedge funds (who are shitting hundreds of millions a day whilst this goes on) so that people move on from GME and the hedge funds can recover
c) It's a genuine thing that people have just discovered, unlike the original GME position which has been 18+ months in the makingHmm. I'd vote for a combination of (a) and (b).

Silver trading is currently paused due to exceptional demand.
I feel like this will get shut down before it can really be effective.

I'm not following on the silver chat. Tried but failed. Anyone got some thing I can use to catch up?

Just read the last week of this and what stood out was how sickening Robinhood are (and anyone else who has done that) and congrats to @swedeee
