lol thanks
Wasn’t that much fun. I can really feel the last 3 months of lockdown life have impacted my running ability - working long hours from home and not doing any s&c work is really exposed on a long run. I got round in 3:53 which is fine but 30mins slower than when I ran Berlin back in 2019. I forgot gels and powdered drink so had to make 3 shop stops and that wasn’t ideal. Felt fine for first 30 and then the next 12 was just very cold, tired and cramping. Anyway got it done and that’s the main thing. Better training routine required moving forward though!

You beat me by a single kilometre.

112km for me. Bang on the nose of my 70mile goal for the month.
One faster run, two easy runs and one hilly run per week.
I've been working in some weighted squats and lunges to help with my desire to run a bit faster and be better at hills and it is really paying off.

112km for me too. Good mix of road, trail, long, easy and tempo in there. Nothing really structured though, so want to build more of that in next month.

Month one done of the 10k pb plan 300k for the month. Feeling good. No serious injuries just a random purple toenail and hamstrings and lower back have been feeling a bit tight but I've read an article claiming tight hamstrings are often just weak hamstrings and i do have a bit of a lazy heel lift when running so this month I'm going to avoid stretching and hit my posterior chain and lateral stabilisers twice a week and see if that helps. I picked this up on sale to help and its actually pretty good. I did a running specific blitz yesterday and really felt it this morning so you can definitely do an effective conditioning workout with it.

233km for me, biggest monthly total for me by approx 100km.

Impressive, but careful, that sort of increase is a quick route to injury

235 miles here. Started @doubleodavey 10k plan and even after only two weeks I can feel things beginning to click again.
Did two hours this morning. First hour along the Thames was scenic but busy and second hour through acton and along the a40 was quiet and less scenic.

122 miles here including 2 x 5k tt's 15 days apart, the second of which was over 1 min quicker than the first.
Realised I can get strava on phone to shout out 1km splits. First two did shit me up as I'd immediately forgotten I'd set it on so didn't hear the split properly. 3rd was welcome pace news as I could hear it and it wasn't terrible then the 4th and 5th took an eternity to be broadcast. Useful feature, might piss nearby folks off in races though? No worse than garmin beeps?

accidental 10k pb
I missed this, well done. That sub 20 5k happening in Feb then?

11k.
I have done 11k so far this year.
sigh.

Good work glad to hear your enjoying it. I'm two weeks ahead then on the same plan and the other day my 3x12 min at 10k pace set by my 10k tt at the beginning are already feeling easier I'm confident i could hold that same pace for an hour now so you should be flying in a couple of weeks.

155k this month, that's more than I did in the entirety of 2019!
My training plan of running pretty much daily but most runs being easy is turning out to be good for building strength and resilience without any injuries flaring up or getting too fatigued. Some random pains and tenderness afterwards sometimes but nothing that's sticking around.
21:35 in my 5k TT benchmark (which felt horrible as it was the first proper 5k effort since September). My previous PB was 21:59, is it realistic to aim for a sub-20?

Well done for getting on with it though, even if it felt like a bit of a slog. Really interested to hear how each one plays-out through the months for you. Are you bothering worrying about times etc or just playing it by ear on the day?
I’ve signed up for the 200km Feb thing on Strava and am thinking of splitting it into two 21.1k runs at night, at each end of the week with a short midweek lunch run. Never run more than 22k in one go so hoping to be able to squeeze out a marathon in March if I’m not injured.

I've got a PB of 21:10 and reckon I can get sub-20. I am also not a runner.

@juanito @Retro_bastard stick with me and .y links and I'll see you right.
If you find any spare motivation, can you send it my way please. I don't think I've been out more than twice in a week for a month -

I built up over December until twisting my ankle and have really slowed down my running for the most part to get miles in my legs.
I actually feel like I’ve got less niggles now that I am running more miles at a steady pace than when I was trying to run as fast as I could 2 or 3 times a week over shorter distances, they are more tired though generally. -

Cheers, yeah just good to get it on the board. This one I wasn’t worrying about a time and I imagine that will be the case for some - would be nice to post a pb in one of them. Would love to go sub 3:15. Half marathon is a really good distance I think so sounds like a nice plan. As the month goes on you might find that you swap one for a 15 and make the other longer, as it will mean you can try some new routes.

• #24721
Yeah - I dunno how you ran the 5k TT but reckon if you could get an 18min runner to pace you, sub 20 would happen sooner than you think.

Well impressed by everyone's mileage in January - special well done to @Tenderloin for the first of twelve marathons (I guess I'm not going to do it after all LOL) and for @TW for owning those 11km. I did pretty much fuck all in January but have been busy with work and life and rabies vaccines. Maybe I need some new shoes.

Lots of people use it here and it really annoys me on trail races, then again I spend most of trail races being (both rationally and irrationally) angry... Etiquette in China is very different to elsewhere and unfortunately people's consideration for the environment/people around them leaves much to be desired. Maybe I'd find it less annoying if it wasn't in the countryside/so loud/a lengthy update in robotic chinese.

I managed 125km for the month.. so a strong start for my 1,000km year target. I also lost 4kg which ‘should’ have made me either faster or made the effort feel easier.. neither of these things happened yet. My plan for Feb is 100km with increased average distance per run.

Thanks. I don't think I'll be pushing for the pb, no. Content enough easy running 2x a week with gf, with a longer solo run in the middle. Not really feeling like I have the mental space for a hard target/pressure to be honest.
83 km from 04 - 31 Jan.
Did run a pb 10 for me.
Now aiming for closer to 40 than 45.
As well as trying to get back into zwift.
Went for a run yesterday through crystal palace. So fucking wet.
