  • Edd bud posted a good midsole foam comparison vid yesterday on YouTube. I can't seem to post links on my phone but easy find and he starts off with boost and all the popular choices are covered.

  • Must be a thing

  • I really enjoy his videos. Such wholesome. Also kinda reminds me of superhans.

  • Well at least you’d never get torpedoed.

Edit cos @Greenbank was swifter than I.

  • Someone I follow on the Strava,as I saw them doing multiple trips up and down rock hill one day, looks like they're going to "run the Appalachian trail" in South east London. By essentially doing multiple south London hill reps.

  • Sober Super hans!

  • Our club did a big "virtual Mont Blanc" type event last year, which I studiously avoided because of my niggly feet, but it threw up some impressive/crazy performances. I think the record for vertical ascent was 9,000ft and 23 miles of reps up and down Canonbie Road in Forest Hill. (Both sides for a bit of variety.) Fuck that.

  • Fuck that indeed.

  • Thanks, just going to watch it now.

  • Have fun out there today.

  • Probably should have kept the fancy trail shoes for summer/invested in the GoreTex ones.

  • That is how trail shoes are supposed to look.

  • Why are they so clean?

  • Tactical puddle jumping to remove horse shit.

  • I've got those as well in that colour and they are impossible to clean i got them on here for £75 and i managed to pick up some peg 36 trail gtx in black for £80 online which wipe down like new. A good price for both pairs. I much prefer the tral 2 though and the new gtx version is still pretty much full price everywhere.

  • Yea I'm really enjoying them and have been keeping an eye on the GoreTex ones but your right they haven't seemed to moved price anywhere. -3c today and was a total sludgefest the goretex would have come in handy to avoid the ol trenchfoot.

  • January done, a solid month's running. 277 miles, highest monthly total since peaking for Frankfurt Marathon 2018. Long runs 1 x 20, 3 x 15. Voluntary 20-mile runs with no imminent marathon on the horizon suggests I'm in good endurance shape, so I'm aiming to do one a month to keep my hand in.

  • Impressive!

350km for the month, my biggest ever month, finished with a progression run today that went better than expected with the last 30minutes at 4min per km, 8 weeks or so to the marathon, feels like a big step up to go from plodding for 3 hours to running that fast but trying to trust the process!

Managed to stay booze free and watch diet, so lost 3 of the 6 kg I really needed to lose, hopefully keep it up till the marathon, and should be in good shape!

  • Impressive last couple of posts.

  • Ha.

57km for January. Aiming for 74km in Feb (two 5k runs a week, and the long run going 7km, 8km, 9km and finally back to 10km). A long way off my biggest month (160km) when I was also 13kg lighter.

Have the summer off though, so no excuses for not getting properly fit, losing the weight and getting into better habits to keep it that way. (Hopefully the pool and gym will be open from April...)

London Marathon ballot results out on Feb 8th.

  • Club virtual duathlon today. Was feeling a bit lazy so picked the sprint distance, so 20k on a course on Zwift and then 5k on the Thames path. Pretty pleased with 18:32 off the bike, think it might be a PB (and if not, then it's still 5 years since I ran that), which I'm pretty chuffed with given the bike was essentially a 30min sweet spot workout beforehand.
Those bouncy Nike certainly give a bit of free speed though. I normally train in Adidas Tempo, but the same pace felt noticeably easier in clown trainers.

  • Rapid!

Hoping to get a chance/excuse to take mine out to have a bit of a poke, just waiting till something in the schedule looks suitable but nothing in the next 2 weeks does!

  • Much jealousy

My back has recovered over a week that I can move normally with some stiffness, prob need another week before i think about cycling or running again

In the meantime I can convert the extra hours that I have free into buying more running shoes

  • I finished this morning's run with pretty clean shoes thanks to the flooded path about a mile and a half from home washing off the mud acquired over the previous 15 miles.

238 miles for the month. A good start to Deadwater training. Starting to add in some bodyweight exercises a couple of times a week now... Not so easy to motivate myself to do those :/

  • 53km in January for me, wins being keeping up consistent running, an accidental 10k pb (I've never targeted that distance really so not a big deal) and starting to build some endurance again.
Looking forward to a February of hopefully less working around frost and ice and otherwise more of the same.
