47x18
69 gear inches (on 28mm tyres).
John Allis told me “69 or your doing it wrong”. He coached the Harvard team from the back of a fixed gear. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Allis

“69 or your doing it wrong”
It's one of those things which seems like a good idea in theory, but turns out to be neither one thing nor the other when you get down to it.

@amey am I right in thinking your hatred for mini v stem from Tektro?
I had a service whose mini v is spongy as hell, quoted compressionless brake cableset and it end up being less spongy.
It was only until I fitted Shimano mini-v and it suddenly feel like cantilever without cantilever braking power (lack thereof).

Nah its the mechanical advantage and the fact that you have to run the pads so close to the rims so if the wheel is even slightly out of. true it rubs and then spring adjusment (which also exists in canti tbf)
Shimano Mini V; which ones?

Shimano Mini V; which ones?
This has been playing on my mind since reading @edscoble comment too. Did they make one?
I’m running a tektro mini v on my road fixed at the moment and not overly impressed with it.
Would run a canti but I’ve got a dynamo light mounted at the crown which is in the way. Just sorting out a different fork though so might be able to go for a canti soon. Also wondered about a bmx u brake...

BR-R573
BR-R353 -

Fair enough. Not seen those before I don’t think.

Nah, that’s shit, you can run them like cantilever and still have amazing mechanical, just stay away from tektro.
Compressionless housing, SRAM S500 and Shimano R353 will sort you out easily.
