Have to say I love the carbon xs and I haven’t noticed the weird heels on them.
Good track session this evening doing km reps, pleased with a 3:35 8th and final rep, 9 weeks to the marathon..!

I'd like to give the carbon x's a go. How do you find the sizing? You have the same asics piranhas that i put up a couple of weeks ago. 1/2 size up from those? I've gone 1/2 a size up in my speed goats and they're still a bit short. Strong reps today btw 💪

I’m fairly consistently a euro 44 and that holds true for the hokas. That includes ASICS, saucony and altra. I use euro as looking in the altras at least they claim to be a Uk 9...
Onto my second pair of the spe versions and they’d be my choice for triathlon as the upper is one piece, and about 100k into the v2 x’s which I think I like even more as the upper feels less flexy and is more connected to the foot. The separate tounge would make them a no no for normal distance Tri though as you’d have to fish it out after putting them on..
Like Phil, I find hoka cushioning to be a firmer ride which is better for my feet, as they begin to hurt quite quickly if I get stampy so I get less injuries, the Nikes are lovely but i suspect if I did any volume in there I’d have a Morton’s neuroma flair up within a couple of weeks..

Thanks for the info if i find a Good deal on a pair ok carbon x's I'll grab a pair. I wanted to try them as high mileage shoe mainly so the tongue construction isn't an issue but good to know. I'm thinking endorphin pros for shorter tri/duathlons and alphaflys for half iron/half marathon. I used to be a massive altra fan as well and still have a couple of pairs but they just feel like plimsolls now in comparison to the new crop of hi tech racers. I've got a pair of metaracers as well they might suit you for a shorter distance tri shoe? Firm, fast and flat.

I’m definitely finding the Pegasus to be faster than my old infinity runs. Maybe that’s obvious but getting pretty consistently quicker splits even on tired and sore plods.
Just wish it would stop raining every night.

I'm getting really sick of chafing off different parts of my skin every time I go for a run. I sometimes (not always) remember to vaseline first but then another part of me will decide to make a bid for freedom. It's not helping motivate me out the door at all, and (worse) it's not motivating me to want to shower afterwards. Maybe I actually hate winter running and having to wear clothes. /grumble over

I did briefly have a pair of the meta racers, but they felt a bit large, and they went out of stock, in the smaller size they are on the long list of shoes to try but want to try the alphafly’s first... and then probably the saucony’s

This! I run more for the mental 'elf and fitness is a bonus, but I like to run around the lakes. The stoney tracks are OK but only account for a fraction of the possible routes so the mud slip has been non-stop. Was so nice to have the ground frozen for a couple of mornings for a change.

The Rapha chamois cream is nice and nicer on the skin than vaseline

First marathon of 12 on Sunday. Not really prepared for it but hey ho. Just got to get it done

They're all great shoes and all very different flavours but after a couple of runs in each you get used to them pretty quickly. Just buy them all and rotate them that way each pair will last longer so apart from the initial outlay your annual shoe spend isn't actually any more. Although my wife calls bullshit on that theory

Yep, tell that to the 3 pairs of hoka carbon x, 1 pair of rocket x and 1 pair of vaporflys I have on the go at the moment...
Will try/buy more once I get through a few of the pairs of hoka...
Only exception is that once I break 18 again (not done since 2017 - but not really trained for running specifically either) for 5k I’ll buy myself a pair of alphaflys.

Yeah it sounds like you've got plenty to keep you going in the meantime. I'm sure the +1 rule applies to trainers as well as bikes. At least trainers are cheaper.

12!? One a month I’m guessing. That’s pretty nuts. Just doing it solo?

Wrap up warm!

Yeah thats the aim. I actually thought 20 x half maras would be better (20,21's) but whatever

Dazzle camouflage...
I've got the black and gold endorphin speeds and the pros on pre order for early feb so i assume they'll be in new colourway. I've had a lot of shoes and they speeds are the best feeling shoes I've ever had. The fit seems perfect for me so I've got high hopes for the pros and i will do some sort of b2b testing with my new alphaflys. The alphaflys are a little too narrow and high in the arch for me and they just feel and look weird but so far they're the fastest things I've ever run in but I'm just starting to hear stories of the air pods bursting so the pros might end up bumping them down the pecking order.
