Are they letting the shorts settle buy blocking the retail buys? If retail cant buy, but can sell, people will sell... That means theres a flow of sold shares, those can be used to settle the shorts?
Yes, that's exactly what is happening.
But once you can buy again it could go right up again. There won't be the volume to close out all of the shorts unless some of the big holders sell.
But (again), if enough of the short positions are closed out then the short squeeze is over if the number of shorts positions becomes a chunk less than the number of floating free shares.
