Those tower veg steamers are the source of all my childhood hated of home cooked food.

Yeah. They just don't seem to work evenly and I can't figure out why.

That said loading up two containers full of courgettes for puree was faster and more practical than any other method. They will go to the charity shop once no.2 hits 1yo though.

The level closest to the water will cook quicker/more so just stack stuff in order of cooking time. Something else I do is put down a sheet of greaseproof paper like normal but stab lots of holes in it to let the steam come through more evenly.
