Vitus Energie CX inner gear cable

Posted on
  • hope someone can help....I'm going to replace a frayed inner rear gear cable on a Vitus Energie CX bike and before I make a lot of work for myself by doing it arse about tit does anyone know if the outer casing which enters in the downtube and exits from the chainstay is one complete piece from the shifter to the derailleur or is the casing in sections as most bikes seem to have?

  • Mine goes in the toptube and exits in the chainstay.
Just release the cable and jank the outer a bit, see if it moves all together. Usually the casing goes to the DT and restarts in the curve of the RD, don't you have some guides with naked cables under the BB?

  • Thanks, but wanted to know if that particular model had a one piece of outer casing for the rear mech instead of two

  • In answer to my first enquiry and for future reference the Vitus Energie gear and brake outer casings are one piece, just feed the new inner cable in the shifters and it will exit at the furthest end (no bottom bracket removal)
