Main reason is to maintain currency for a warranty - if out of warranty then the only real reason is that a main dealer service history looks (very slightly) better when you come to sell it (in some people's opinions)

See if they are doing any deals, is there a vw specialist nearby?

Is there any reason to keep going with main dealer servicing? My 2017 Leon needs a 40,000 mile service, and the previous owner did all their servicing at a SEAT garage. That did factor into me buying it as a source of reassurance...
Also, it'd be a different dealer as I'd like to get the car serviced in SE London rather than Cambridge, where I picked it up!
