Sure - your players all stopped too. The rules are raise the flag after play stops and it hadn't.

I can see the confusion on the pitch and forgive the players but we learnt three things as 6 year olds at football club. 1) don't bunch 2) never pass the ball across the face of your goal and 3) play to the whistle and that included if the ref's assistant was flagging. So it is hard to excuse
