  • Floor could do with a clean

  • Honestly doesn't sound all that economical from experience, I really haven't bought into these smart TRV's and think there is better ways to spend your money imo.

  • Looks very clinical but looks like it fits in really well in that situation.

  • Less economical than wanting one particular room heated so upping a central wall stat and running round turning off other rads? Also, convenience. I can turn the hot water on and off from my phone or the wall stat downstairs to heat up for mini_com's bath instead of either going upstairs to the back bedroom, reaching into the airing cupboard to turn it on or off. Or setting a schedule for the hot water only for mini_com to decide that bed/bath time is an hour later/earlier than it was the previous day.

  • Or if ms_com decides she is not going to work in her office in the loft and instead in the dining room (or if either of us have to watch mini_com in the living room instead of working) saves going up and down to turn off the rads in either office.

  • Pastry section looking good! 😎

  • I also enjoy the ability to keep everywhere in the house unheated at night except mini-howard's room which is kept lukewarm so as not to wake the beast within

  • Same, except that is our room too. Having separate schedules for separate days for each room with a smart TRV is super handy too. My office is only heating for my working hours Mon-Thurs as I have mini_com on Fridays. And at the minute, I have her mornings Mon-Wed one week then afternoons the next week. That would be a ballache to remember to set manually. I stead I just switch the schedule for those days on a Sunday evening.

  • Haven't made any bread or pastry or anything for four months.

    Much excite!

  • Is it chilled?

I would be so insanely jealous if it was chilled.

  • Having temporarily moved into 1987 the lack of this is killing us.

  • That’s probably flour.

  • Any recommendations for a builder/plasterer who could fill small cracks in external render, repair damaged cills, render over some weather damaged red brick and then repaint front and back?

  • Jamie Turner. Good guys!

His details are in the reco trader thread

  • You can chill quartz?

    It's pretty cold already.

  • Nice wine cooler, good to see got the important parts covered.

    Who was the kitchen through?

And you didn't go wooden worktops? 🤣

  • What's the battery life like as heard there could be issues with that and also noise if you have them in the bedroom?

I'm still contemplating just getting the smart trvs for 4 of the bedroom and hallway rads but spending so much cash on house stuff

  • Not sure about battery life (touted as two years with standard AAs - there are workarounds to allow you to use rechargeables) but until the windows are replaced next month, it's not a fair test as no sooner do they get the room up to temp, all the celciusses fly out through the merde fenetres and they have to kick into gear again so will likely be using more power at the minute. There is a whirr from the actuator when the TRVs go on and off, but it's not loud enough to wake you or prevent sleep. So I'd say it's not a problem unless you are super sensitive to that kind of thing.

  • Thanks aggi and umop3pisdn.

  • workarounds to allow you to use rechargeables

I'd be cautious about using rechargeables for something that's a continuous small drain. I'd expect them to be like smoke detectors.

  • noise if you have them in the bedroom?

They do make a little whir but I’ve checked the historical charts and their activity do not coincide with mini-Howard’s ‘wake and scream bloody murder for his mum’ cycles.

  • Good point, I'll bare that in mind.
