In honesty it's mostly rugby that seems to have a problem.
How many are professional level tho? As far as I understand the pressure is on the younger guys trying to get a professional contract but after that it isn't worth the risk, so most cases are amateur players who are gym steroid ladz?
South Africa seems to have a massive problem at school age levels though which is terrifying.

when i played rugby union in france loads of the lads used to like a quick bifter before a game and one of them got popped for it in the end, which is sad

I can’t imagine playing rugby stoned. Reckon I’d have a panic attack if people were on top of me.
It certainly can’t have been performance enhancing in any way.

that season, we lost 100% of our games. i don't know exactly what you'd call it but we got money if we won (not exactly semi-pro but... some way towards that). i'm so proud of the fact that i am literally unable to make a penny by being good at rugby, even when the opportunity presented itself.

there was talk of arranging an exhibition against the other 0% team in the country at that level (sète IIRC) but i had to leave the country before it could be arranged

Most drug banned athletes in the UK are rugby players. Grass roots to pro.
I think with rugby they get told to get big in the off season where they can do a stint on the steroids and finish the cycle well before the season starts.
Look at the size of a rugby player now compared to the 90s, what’s the difference? Intermittent fasting and cross fit? -

I looked at that very website before making my claim. Two pages of union sanctions vs. 7 league players. Similar to football (6) and boxing (7), for example.

I played rugby at a moderate level before university (national league 2 south) a high level whilst at university (academy level at a premiership club) and low level after I recovered from torn acl / mcl (london 1).
I didn't see any steroid use until london 1 when a load of players were on it. Obviously at that level they stood out a lot as noticeably bigger and stronger than the others. If others were at it when I was at the other clubs they hid it much better. Doesn't mean they weren't, of course.

Last time I played rugby union seriously was 2006-7 and that was in France where 100% nobody was taking PEDs.
The previous few seasons I played around the north west and there were maybe 2 guys at my club who were on something, and they were the only people as far as I knew that went to a gym of any sort.
Definitely don't recall anyone mentioning weights ever.

The tribunal looks like it may get interesting tomorrow..
-

Ridiculous that he's going to take the fall. Obviously there's been systematic doping going on.

I think the house of cards may eventually topple.
Freeman displaying signs of extreme stress, Wiggins in trouble with HMRC, marriage collapsed, and looking bloated with booze.
Whether skinny Dave gets implicated remains to be seen..
-

Not sure it’s fair to link Wiggin’s marriage woes and company issues to the tribunal?
Also you mean skinny after prostate cancer surgery Dave?
-

Skinny Dave's use of triamcinolone predates his cancer diagnosis.
-
• #8669
Didn't know non athletes needed a TUE for triamcinolone.

Should he be doing vaccine?
Cunt’ll probably lose more doses than he administers.

Interesting, or not depending on your viewpoint, turn of events in the Freeman hearing today. The QC for the GMC made claims in his summing up that the prosecution had not previously mentioned, mainly about 'sleepers' within BC/Sky who had previously doped and were assisting Freeman in doping an athlete(s). Freeman's defence were on this like a shot, can imagine they are going to tear into the credibility of the prosecution's case now with some gusto.

I look forward to this being resolved in 2093
For Movistar maybe.
