  • Nope, 2015 (?) vintage and as far as I’m aware exactly as it came. The bottom bottle cage is attached using removable bottle bosses/zip ties

  • I am so happy I have just blagged a 60cm original orange Day One from Gumtree- I have regretted selling mine for years- I found the disk version too cumbersome. It looks pretty much standard apart from the Salsa Bell Lap bars which I also had on mine! secretly wishing this was my old one that has romantically found it's way back to me

  • Genesis Longitude owners, any help?

I recently bought a second hand genesis longitude (2017) and looking at the drive side seat-stay and it curves out slightly more than the NDS one. Is this to accommodate the extra space needed for the casette? There’s a scuff right at the point of the curve which makes me suspicious that it might be a ding but I realise I’ve never owned a bike that had curved tubes.

  • I've got a large size version of the latest green one, and the seat stays look like this if it helps. Not sure what the difference is between 2017 though...

  • Thanks. Hard to fully gauge whether there’s much of a difference. This is what mine looks like drive side just curves out a bit more.

  • If the wheel sits straight and the mech hanger is straight, I wouldn't worry about it

  • Oh cool, I didn't know that existed! In my mind, I thought you either got ones like this

    or ones like this

    and then the newer ones.

Yours is a really nice vintage! I am almost jealous.

  • Ta. Rear Brake Disc has a very marginal wobble on it but I really don’t know how likely it is that this is a symptom of anything out of line. I’ll have another measure and see how straight everything is.

  • I think if the frame wasn't straight, the wheel wouldn't sit straight but it and the rotor would still spin constant. Any wobbling would more likely be a symptom of an out of true rotor

  • Cheers, that makes sense.

  • I guess mine must have bridged the gap, just as they were moving to onboard brake mounting.

The top photo is exactly the same as mine, just with outboard brake mounting so can see where you’re coming from!

2014 seemed to be the bridge, pg 22 has the model I’ve got: https://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/media/catalogues/genesis/2014_catalogue.pdf

  • Update from post in the previous page. All finished! Brooks bar tape is a pain to wrap, not super pleased with the result but it does feel nice and squishy and is tacky to touch.

  • I have the top era of CDF, around 2013 and its a beaut to ride!! Much nicer before they went all adventure touring bike esk with horrible dropouts and ugly geo

  • Loving the longitude. Seems like the first time in ages we've had a bit of sun, so headed up and around the mucky lanes and parks.

  • B) every time i get to see this bike is a good day

  • Thanks homie!

  • Nice bike, loving the guards, extendo front mount could be tidier but hardly an issue.

  • I took this Photo, saw my bars pointing to the sky and thought about my comment on your bars. Shame on me.

I am planning on making some flaps. But I said that a month ago!

  • I've been thinking that flaps would be a good seller on here if someone handy could make some

  • Pretty standard SKS longboards (?) in silver, nothing that special! Had metal ones on, but couldn’t get on with the constant pinging of stones on the metal guards.

  • Edit: question for another thread I reckon!

  • Decided to strip this down for a bit of an update - bought it originally as a cheap hack mtb but it's great fun so decided to freshen it up. It's at the powdercoaters just now, have an XT m8000 groupset & some jazzy E13 wheels ready to go on, the original Recon Gold fork has been serviced & increased from 80-120mm previously so they're a bit more usable (that slackened the head angle a couple of degrees too)
