I think Lampard was the sort of player that trained hard to get to the top and likes players that will put in the extra training, whereas Hoddle just gets upset that his defenders can't chip a keeper with a rabona from 40 yards out.
JT is a funny one. I wouldn't want him anywhere near Derby (rumours are he was close to becoming manager after Cocu left) due to his previous indiscretions, but he seems to be made of teflon and everyone just forgets he's a racist cunt with a criminal family and a real nasty piece of shit. Weird...
Rooney is the opposite of what I thought he'd be as a manager (so far). He seems to have improved team spirit despite the club falling behind on paying the players - long story. And he also understands the individual needs of young players coming through rather than having to rely on more skilful players. Interesting to see how he acts now we're able to sign some players before the transfer window closes. Rumours of Niasse, Ince and Phil Jones. Should all be improvements on what we currently have, although not the most inspiring of targets.
The "lack of tactical instruction and not being spoken to for months" bit sounds about right. The success he had with us was by having some very talented (by Championship standards) loan players on board. When they were out injured the team form dipped and Lampard didn't really have a clue how to turn it around.
It was said he would be frustrated in training that players couldn't do what he wanted them to with the ball and that he would regularly play in the training games and perform better than most of the squad.
He's definitely not blessed as a motivator, so it was inevitable that he would struggle to get the performances back after some bad results.
Not sure how much of a motivator Tuchel is. His PSG team was several classes above most Ligue 1 teams, so not hard to get results again when form dipped. I reckon Rafa in place by the end of the season... ;)
