Moving house is shit. Being in the new place, is great.
Not done it myself but surely the satisfaction of having renovated the place yourself will make the 'being in it' part all the more sweet.

Just sitting there staring at the things you fucked up while they nag incessantly at you to fix them. Yep. Looking forward to it!

Playing hide and seek.

In that case it's a pretty piss-poor effort

The quartz guy insists we don't need a supporting leg but it feels weird without one.
We've got one that we could install which matched the stainless steel units but not sure if we will bother.
The island feels bigger than I expected......
Only minor annoyance is that they used white standard silicone which really sticks out. I'm investigating RAL coloured silicone now 🙄

All the coverings come off today, then we just need the plumber for a couple of days and clean up before moving in. We started on October the 11th.

Did you pick out your slab? It's such a long time ago that we ordered ours, pretty relieved that we both still love it
-
• #42391
Yes. Just a black and gold one.
Pretty weird experience, I have decision fatigue... so when they were here today asking how to cut it I'm very much "Isn't this your job?" and "You've done this enough, you tell me!".

'How do you want the edging to look?'
Fuck knows. What looks good?
-
• #42393
Pretty much.
"We're going to do a pencil edge here, and a £1 coin edge there... is that OK?"
I mean... yeah, sure. Can I go back to sitting on the floor in the corner and rocking back and forth whilst gibbering about my bank account?
Today's drama isn't even related to the kitchen... today it's the water mains in the street having burst, and whilst my electrician is knocking out my internet it turns out that my backup 4g isn't working because O2 are having an outage. Oh, and a downpipe has come away from the rear of the house in the last week, so every time I have a bath I dump the water down the side of the house.

HA. Yeah - maybe it was a bad idea.
Very happy to have someone to snag our stuff when we moved in.

Has anyone moved halfway through a fixed term? If so what's the actual process?
Ours is expiring and our mortgage broker has found us a portable 5yr @ 1.24% with the same lender (which is better than their 3yr). For a number of reasons we want to go for the 5yr, but may move in 2-4yrs.
Is it just a case of moving our existing mortgage and then taking out a new one for the balance amount and period? Anything else to consider?
Cheers.

Wow!
And I thought ours was bad. That's seriously good work.

ERCs
Lender might let you 'port' though. Depends on the figures involved and whether they would lend on the new property.
Moving house this week. FUCKING DREADING IT
