The "lack of tactical instruction and not being spoken to for months" bit sounds about right. The success he had with us was by having some very talented (by Championship standards) loan players on board. When they were out injured the team form dipped and Lampard didn't really have a clue how to turn it around.
It was said he would be frustrated in training that players couldn't do what he wanted them to with the ball and that he would regularly play in the training games and perform better than most of the squad.
He's definitely not blessed as a motivator, so it was inevitable that he would struggle to get the performances back after some bad results.
Not sure how much of a motivator Tuchel is. His PSG team was several classes above most Ligue 1 teams, so not hard to get results again when form dipped. I reckon Rafa in place by the end of the season... ;)
