The bracelet works really well with that. I'm not usually a mark 1 fan but I can see the appeal with that combination.

I would not swim in that . You are right not get wet. Its a moonwatch ,it's not very damp in space.

For sure. I don’t think they’re wearing Speedies here, do they?

I dunno, when my wife bought mine from Nicholas Hacko in Sydney he said there's no issue with getting them wet. I mean, I'm not swimming in mine but I don't panic about either. If it was ever submerged I just wouldn't activate the chrono....

I think this is a great approach as long as the watch is regularly serviced and maintained.

50m is code for splashproof. It’s unlikely to suffer any damage from moderate exposure to water but I wouldn’t swim in mine.

Not according to omega.

Submersion and snorkeling open more question about the former; how long can you submerge your watch?
-
• #51135
Not unless they want them full of chlorinated water

Seems a bit misleading, doesn’t it? I would not intentionally submerge that watch.
I found out yesterday that the gaps between the strap and the case don’t bother me, oddly I quite like that.

“Water surface activities” ie swimming = 100m and up. You can submerge it fine, but it’s the momentary localised water pressure from hitting the water that a 50m rated watch might not like.
I wouldn’t swim in a mechanical chrono (unless it was designed as a divers chrono) or a watch without a screw back and crown, especially if it was worth anything.

This thread always made me feel better about going with minimal depth rating and not worrying too much about swimming / washing up etc:

It’s got equations in so it has to be right.

And the conclusion is...
you should never have a problem washing your hands, or showering, even with a 3 atm rated watch. A properly tested 10 atm rated watch should withstand anything water related

If a new(ly serviced) 50m watch leaked by going in the bath or swimming I'd send it back straight away as not fit for purpose.
FWIW I took my 30m £15 Casio scuba diving down to 30+m and it was fine. I'm not suggesting that it would be sensible to do that with a Speedy but if something is sold as WR then it should be. Almost all watches are mass produced items that should work as advertised.

Does anyone here happen to know where to source a Seiko Prospex SRPB55K1 in the UK? My brother is after one but is struggling to find one.

I don’t think it’s a current model anymore, I’m drawing a blank, sorry.

Cheers for the effort, much appreciated.

Yeah he doesn’t feel comfortable in getting it from “somewhere” haha.
Went for a walk today. Omega says you can swim with these. This is about as close to the water as I’d go with mine.
