  • It's likely to be what you suggest, really try to pin down the source if you can, shouldn't be too difficult if exiting that quickly.

  • Excellent. The Citroen C1 race car vids were good but I definitely need a Binky fix.

  • Ah fuck man, gutted!

  • Spent the day trying to replace the stolen cat on the jazz.

Couldn’t get a drill in place to drill the sheared ones out - will need a right angle drill.
The photos I took made it look A LOT more accessible that it really is.
The non oem cat doesn’t appear to fit.
I snapped the release clip on the new o2 sensor, so it’s never coming off.
The new middle section of exhaust seems to fit-ish.

So I took it to a garage, and now I’m going to get hammered and listen to records.

  • So I took it to a garage, and now I’m going to get hammered and listen to records.

    Worth it.

  • Am pissed. Can confirm is good.

  • Find the leak.

Refill with water and then bleed air out, but something has gone wrong for the water to escape. Is there a leak under the car? Hope for a water pipe is damaged as think the water pump runs with the cambelt. So pump and cambelt then it could be the headgasket.

  • Looks like I'm gonna try to do exactly this... 16" Sunraysias are quite a bit cheaper than 17" as well as being in stock in a lot more places, it may limit my tyre choice but will see how I go when I hit the phone tomorrow...

  • Good call. Few things to double check though. Don't go mad with a chunky tread full-on all terrain tyre. It'll kill fuel economy and have horrible ride, and be noisy. Go for an SUV style tyre more aimed at road use so it'll be quiet and comfortable. It'll still handle gravel and dirt roads fine.

  • Yeah, that's what I'm gonna do, not gonna go mad! Something boring like a Bridgestone EP300... So riddle me this?

Current setup is 17x7 5100 wheel and a 225/55R17 tyre... If I can go down to 16" (Suby forums say that's not a problem and there's more than enough caliper clearance) does that translate to 16x7 5100 wheels and 225/55R16 tyres? It can't be that simple, Shirley? 😉

Plug in numbers and you're away

  • Make sure a 16” wheel will fit over your brakes before committing.

  • Internet says yes, even a 15" works in some cases... I'm gonna let the tyre store guy make the final call, no fit, no pay!

    And thanks, @Aroogah!

  • Closest would be 225/60/16. Or upsize a little by going 225/65/16, actual speed will be ~2% slower than reading

  • I'm gonna let the tyre store guy make the final call, no fit, no pay!

Is the correct answer. But at least you can speak knowledgably about it with them.

  • Closest would be 225/60/16.

That's a perfect size but just checked and my offset will be out... 48mm on the XV and 30mm on this rim which pushes me out 18mm... Is that even legal?

  • Recommended tyre fitted SE near Sydenaham? Gashed the sidewall so need something urgently.

Currently running Michelin cross climate, is ok. What else is a good all round tyre in 195 60 15 these days?

  • Lol, garage rang. Cat doesn't fit, and they reckon the front cat needs to come off the car to have the sheared bolts drilled out. I feel better about not getting it done on the driveway, I feel less good about what to do next.

  • Some qualudes and a sit down, to brace for the pending wallet prolapse :)

  • Insurance is a dirty word but would it cover it?

  • It'll look cool?... But, dunno about the legalities in Qld but in NSW the tyre cannot protrude past the body work. You might be lucky, stock subies have a lot of room in the guards. Any scrubbing or rubbing is unlikely. Best to let the tyre shop advise.

  • Can’t spend what you don’t have!

  • I used Kwik Fit Sydenham - completely fine a few weeks ago.

  • Ah shit, sucks dude, I was just making light as a follow on to your comments at the end of the last page, but hope it it can be sorted for minimal £'s.
