I’ve had to do it a few times and it doesn’t get any easier, and I know that when Dizzy has to go I’ll be useless for a week. It’s a price we pay, I guess. They get into your soul these little fuckers. I mentioned up thread that my parent’s two cats were ailing and had survived a couple of drain circling trips to the vet. Well one went in and didn’t come out this morning. I’ve never heard my dad sob that much. Not during any human loss. Very sad.
Those cats were so lucky. Of all the houses in all the world they ended up in the one where you get to spend your last morning being spoon fed syrupy porridge in bed.
