I don't understand this comment or how it is relative to me.

He seems very set on aero carbon
Nothing else for it then

If you shop smart, you can build one of the 8-10k otp super bieks for around 5k quite easily, maybe even sub5k.
I've built an s-works sl6 recently for pretty much bang on 5k.
If you buy one bike at 10k you're paying full Rrp on every component. That's mental.
Shopping around you could build two absolute screamers with 10k. Fair enough it would require a fair bit of hunting around for bargains.
Unless of course if he's absolutely double minted and doesn't give a fuck then s-works sl7 or similar!

As far as the budget goes, I basically interpret it as he wants the top end of whichever brand he plumps for in the end.
Sarto Lampo Plus is the best suggestion in that case. It's aero, it's carbon and it's so eye-wateringly expensive (£5000+ for f&f) that it will truly test his commitment to the buyer lifestyle.

shop smart
Doesn't seem to be on the agenda here...

I'll sell him my Softride for £10,000. Awaiting your PM.

What a fantastic dilemma to be faced with. Surprised not to see Factor on this list of eye wateringly expensive bikes.
They seem to offer a ‘bespoke-ish’ service and frames start 5.4K. They can do aero or ultra lightweight or a bit of both it seems.

Festka https://festka.com/scalatore or not enough aeros?

Imagine spending that much on a custom frame and being okay with having a press fit bottom bracket.
-
• #63
To be honest, I’m struggling to imagine spending that much on a frame

Also uuuuggly! Enjoying this thread.

No I'm not getting that either. More 'top end, carbon, aero, take my money'

This is indeed on the list. The Ostro is actually quite nice on the eye and he had picked up on the complimentary (lol) frame fit that comes with. If he settles for this I won't be totally anti

I sometimes wonder how smaller £10k plus carbon bike makers stay in business, then I see threads like this (and laps at Regent's) and it starts to make sense
Enjoying the discussion tho :)

It feels like the next logical step

Has nobody suggested buying 1/4 of a kitchen yet?

A Factor is definitely cooler than an SL7 and that’s the most important thing in choosing a bike

Ummm, I hear ya. Their marketing line is as follows: 'A revelation is more than an idea... it shakes you from the inside'. I'm not sure whether this is encouraging or a little concerning. Disgustingly expensive too, it's almost immoral.

New aeroad. Done.

I've spotted Coureur just around the corner from Kring. Don't know if it's totally new or just relocated in the past few months. It looks nice but I've yet to go in. I go down the canal towards Halle quite a lot so pass by Bikelife but haven't been in either. I'll bear it in mind.

Possibly the best advice yet

Would he consider Ti?
Fine suggestions here but after trying various strategies I get the impression that taste is exactly what's missing in this whole affair. He seems very set on aero carbon and the furthest I've been able to tempt him away from this rather boring mantra is an SL7. It's inappropriate and unnecessary and I'm 100% on board with what you're saying but you can't force a horse to drink.
As far as the budget goes, I basically interpret it as he wants the top end of whichever brand he plumps for in the end. The worst thing about it is I can't even write it off as a MAMIL crisis, dude hasn't hit 30 yet (facepalm).
