  • Having serviced my BB for the first time after 8,000km I discovered that it doesnt look too tidy...

Ive cleaned it and replaced the bearings, so that should be fine.

However, I noted that the surface of the axle had sanded down on the contact points with the bearings - do i need to worry/can I do anything against it?

Would it make sense to drill a drain hole into the BB shell to allow water to dry/drain our would a drain hole make it even worse?

    Cheers

    If it’s steel I think that’s alright.

I had a track frame with no drainage holes. Rather than drill I took the seatpost out every few days to allow evaporation. And tipped water out after really wet rides (if you can get half a pint out, you know it’s been an adventure).

The T3 collects about that much if it tips down during a TT. The BB shell is sleeved through, so the bearings are safe, but you have to take the fork out to pour the water out of the downtube 🤷‍♀️
