For those trying to reconcile the problem of elegant storage solution with best-before dates, Joseph Joseph also have the solution:

Why not still use them? It's "best before" not "use by". Unless you're one of the few people that can really tell the difference, or doesn't store them in something airtight.
I decant most things with a "best before" date into a jar/carton/tub/etc so that a certain person in this house doesn't throw them away the second they're past their best before date - as if paprika or cumin suddenly goes off after a few years.
