  • A lot of people of the swathes of Deliveroo types out and about are anything to go by.

Does anyone really have a stock of pine nuts? They are the kind of things you buy once for a recipe then, years later, you find another recipe that needs them, rummage around the cupboard thinking “I’m sure we’ve got some somewhere”, find them, think “I knew it. I fucking knew it!”, check the date on the packet and find they were best before April 2014.

Why not still use them? It's "best before" not "use by". Unless you're one of the few people that can really tell the difference, or doesn't store them in something airtight.

I decant most things with a "best before" date into a jar/carton/tub/etc so that a certain person in this house doesn't throw them away the second they're past their best before date - as if paprika or cumin suddenly goes off after a few years.

[EDIT] Although not as amazingly as mashton though. #would

CSB / Pine nuts foraging has always been a thing in my family. The ones you buy are shit (at least in the UK and DK) / CSB
