FS: Enigma Esprit Titanium frameset

Posted on
  • This is an Enigma Esprit frame with Columbus Minimal fork, from the Signature series, in satin finish (vapour blasted, I believe) with polished graphics. The quality is superb, as all you weld pervs will appreciate... and it’s a great ride.

Unfortunately it’s new house time and so I have to be realistic about how many road bikes a really need! And as I’m now the wrong side of 40, this one’s up for sale.

It’s built to a classic spec:
    TT 55cm
    ST 54 CtC, 57cm CtT
    HT 132mm
    HT 72.5 degrees
    ST 73 degrees
    BB English
    HS 1.125”
Steerer 22.5cm (so you’ve room to tweak the fit)
Frame weight 1312g (on my scales)
    Fork weight 370g

With it’s bi-ovalised top and down tubes, it looks modern but elegant, dare I say timeless? Ah, I’ve said it!

It’s not pristine; there are some blemishes, but I like a bike that looks used but well maintained. If you disagree, you can of course easily refinish titanium.

These are £1999 frame only + an up charge of £299 for the satin/polished finish

£750 + plus delivery (frame, fork & Enigma Evolution headset)

NB: I’ve also got some bits and pieces that could go will with this, such as Thomson carbon bars, Campagnolo bits and pieces, wheels... just ask if there’s anything you might need)

  • And as I’m now the wrong side of 40

    Bikes, or years of age?

  • Very nice!

  • Ha... no comment...

  • I forgot to photograph the fork; I’ll get that done ASAP

  • What do you mean the wrong side of 40? That's the exact time we start buying titanium

  • Yes, this is true; I have a custom titanium gravel bike too... but my creaking spine no longer allows me to pretend to be a contender on this (I simply could stand to put a new fork with longer steerer and stacks of spacers!)

  • Good price on a classic frame. I got one of these used from ebay as bike for life. Not that light when built up but the ride is sublime and if you’re thinking about ti, weight’s not the foremost consideration.

  • And as I’m now the wrong side of 40

    Bikes, or years of age?

The first thing that came to my mind!

  • Lovely. Interested pending geometry but it looks like that headtube would be too short for my creaky spine too.

  • I'm keen to see the geo too as what I've been looking at says 55 tt, 57 st, 72.5° ha, 73° sa, 13.5 cm ht is that correct? The ht isn't a problem for me and an external headset stretches that out a bit as well. Also is the for the old gloss weave finish or the new matt black?

  • Not far off Retro...

Geo and pics of fork added.

  • Lovely 😁 if it doesn't get snapped up this week I could be up for this

  • Just let me know if I can give you any further info

  • Cheers I'll PM you later to let you know where I'm at

  • Probably too short and low for me - enjoy, @Retro_bastard. @ljmorgan if you dont make the sale then let me know as I might still be interested

  • I’m now an overweight 50 year old and the esprit geo is totally fine for me with a couple of spacers. This is a cruiser endurance bike not racey despite the bollocks in the bikeradar review. It’s fast though. if the engine‘s up to it.

  • Yeah, I’d agree with you on that @Rastapopoulos... Unfortunately, with numerous bike crashes, a lot of scrums, rucks & mauls, falls down mountains, and dropping a washing machine on my back, I’m not as flexible as many of my age or even yours!
