  • I'd say unless you need it to pay bills, at that size let it run, LTC has't even got back to all time high yet

  • LTC has a while to go before it gets back there thats for sure, although its done a decent jump with most other coins since the arse fell out it last year.

  • Even further for LTC to crawl back now

  • As a daytrader, the new regulations have stopped me spreadbetting BTC, so I'm looking for other mechanisms.

What's got the lowest spread and fastest execution out there ?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Stamps?

  • A Bitcoin owner has revealed he only has two guesses left to unlock more than $220m in cryptocurrency after eight failed attempts to access his fortune.

Stefan Thomas, a German-born computer programmer based in San Francisco, was given 7,002 Bitcoins more than ten years ago as a reward for recording a video explaining how the cryptocurrency works.

At the time, the Bitcoins were worth between $2 to $6 each.

With the price of Bitcoin rising rapidly during the coronavirus pandemic, those Bitcoins are now worth around $34,000 each, putting the value of the total fortune at more than $220 million.

Unfortunately for Mr Thomas, he kept the password to accessing the digital wallet holding the Bitcoin on a piece of paper - which he lost years ago.

  • soooo close to lambo time

  • That might be me in a few years, but with my crw millions

  • Should have invested in Olympic 50p pieces. The wise man’s cryptocurrency.

  • im still selling mine. price now dropped to £99.50

  • im still selling mine. price now dropped to £99.50

  • Eth up at a high, still think we’re in for a crash this months been daft

  • please, say crashé or correction

  • BTC is forming a very clear pennant on the daily chart, centred on $37k and looking like it may breakout by Fri. With all the momentum behind it I'd guess it's going up again !?

  • Getting to the point it’s gonna be hard to buy into at the price it’s getting too. Doubt I’ll be buying much more!

  • Pennants aren't always good. You often see a pennant before a big drop with BTC.

You can't use flags or pennants in isolation imho.

  • ^ I agree, and the support line turned to resistance in classic style.

Oh I miss the days of being able to short it with IG - $5,000 just yesterday.

Large investors were seen as the next big buyers to cause massive growth in BTC. I assume this 25% correction will impact their plans, or are they going to live with (or even play) the volatility ?

  • Any Fibonacci analysis practitioners want to speak up.

Most of the dodgy chart analysis you see on social media now days is Elliot Wave Theory. Something that is pretty good at explaining what just happened rather than predicting what will happen next.

I think Fibonacci is part of EWT.

  • Are you peeps trying to predict what the price of BTC will do by looking for patterns in previous pricing? Is that a thing?

  • It's a thing, as in, a nice way to lose money

Edit: bit flippant. Obviously if you know what you're doing you can make money. But most likely some big bastard with millions sloshing around is going to take your money off you.

  • I tried to have a play for a bit, buying low and selling high or whatever as and when I felt it might be good

It was fun, but one day I checked to see my performance vs if I'd just left my gbp as btc and quickly pivoted to #hodl

  • Google "Quants" and "Technical Analysts".

"The Society of Technical Analysts (STA) is recognised worldwide as one of the largest and most widely respected not-for-profit organisations which trains and accredits members of the investment community, from industry professionals to private individuals, interested in the study of technical analysis. We have been setting the standards in technical analysis for 50 years and have been teaching our professional technical analysis courses for over 25 years, including teaching students at King’s College London and Queen Mary University London.

Acknowledged as an increasingly important part of most investment house activity technical analysis helps forecast the direction of financial market prices. Its methodology can be applied in any market and its techniques applied to cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, currencies, commodities, bonds, interest rates and equities. Over the past 50 years we have dedicated ourselves to the promotion and understanding of technical analysis and its role as a vital investment tool."

  • Over the last few years I've asked prety much every person I have met who works hands on in the markets what they think of technical analysis. My anecdata shows a 50:50 split of opinions.

People who have made money using it say its very useful. People who have made money without it say its not very useful. The reality is that a lot of people who luck out like to validate themselves by claiming some form of skill being involved.

Chart analysis is tool that is one method of making predictions and it is no doubt useful in some situations but will never replace the main method of predicting markets...inside information through maintaining a large network of contacts.

TA is less useful for Bttcoin where you can be utterly fucked up by somebody selling some BTC just to buy a new yacht. Its almost meaningless for low liquidity markets like 99% of altcoins.

  • Obvz history doesn't equal future, but BTC has an average* annual return of 400%. Buy what you can afford to lose and sit on it. Time in the market beats timing the market, and all that...

  • The way Ive always looked at it, its always went up but ive bought some at high and some at low and ive never risked anything that I cant afford to lose and looking at hold long term is the other way to be sure.

Ive bought some ALT coins that the arse has fallen out of and some that have made me great money off so its a risk.

I did buy some more last night when it dropped to 21k as I had money from something else i sold sitting in my account.
