How do you reconcile with that short of deep deprogramming?
you can't. every time you reach to the right they take a step to the right, so you reach again and they step to the right again. they have no interest in sharing power, so why the fuck should we? this isn't a difference of opinion, it's a difference of basic morality.
In the absence of any meaningful political will to fix this shit, we (they?) have to fight them by organising against them by voting in sufficient numbers that excludes white supremacists from successfully running for office. this includes fucking off illiberal, racist shite like the electoral college (fptp) and similar institutions that exist to disenfranchise the oppressed.

Well put.

but 74 million Americans did vote for a man that is objectively, a fascist and a white supremacist
I don’t know the author, but someone coined a phrase I’ve found myself using all too often: “Not everyone who voted for trump is a racist, but every one of them decided that blatant racism wasn’t a deal breaker”. Same for his fascism, same for his misogyny, same for his sexual predation etc ad nauseum.

What does that even look like in this day and age? We can have little Fascism, as a treat?
My idea of reconciliation tended more towards racial and socioeconomic reconciliation. You can’t achieve true reconciliation and healing without mutual understanding, and that means addressing the issues that led to the injury in the first place. I focused on ingrained racial discrimination, systemic socioeconomic disparity, and an acceptance that everyone deserves dignity and should be treated equally under the Law. Every time a politician had called for National Healing (TM), this is what they allude to. What they actually want is people not to make their jobs difficult and instead forget any inconvenient truths (eg, specific republicans actively supported a coup).
Fascism can fuck right off. People who are brainwashed into fascism need to be confronted and supported to break free from that bs; if they won’t or can’t, then society should shun them as their ideology is a mortal threat to any peaceful democracy.

Yeah that's a strong take.

"If there's a Nazi at a table with 10 other people talking to them, you have a table with 11 Nazis" comes to mind

Right on. I think I misread your earlier post as being more centrist, sorry.

Walk away from this, content yourself that you are neither a facist or a Stalinist. That's a good place to be.

Got this from my friend last night in response to my post about the Great Awakening website. She’s born and bred in Las Vegas, has lived here for 20 years. Her mother and stepfather have gone full-on Trumpian batshit, and they’re not even on speaking terms now.
“I just can't because, as you know, it all hits too close to home which makes me want to burst into tears and hire a deprogrammer.”
I don’t think they realise how close to fascism they are; it seems more like a cult to my eyes. Reading some of the stuff on that site really brings home how deep some of these people buy into it. Christ knows how they come back from that.

For a long time I've joked about the quality of the US education system but in the last 4 years it's become a little too real.

More people need to dress like that.
Twitter is full of people mocking his disability which is a bit shit.

which is a bit shit.
And not just because mocking people with disabilities was something Trump became notorious for. But also shit because of that.

some of the smoothest ad pivots in youtube history right there. masterful.

Unity with Fascists wont do anything but allow them the opportunity to get a better foothold which they will inevitably use to push their agenda further- their goal by their very fucking nature is to be the last group standing. How do you reconcile with that short of deep deprogramming?
No unity with Fascists. No concession. No platform. No voice.
