Is straight pull the way forward?
It's swings and roundabouts. It's objectively superior if the hub, rim and spokes are all designed together as a complete system, but for mix-and-match hand builds the benefits may not be fully realised. We have been using J-bend spokes for over a century without any serious trouble, and spokes are much better than they used to be so what issues do arise from having a bend have all but vanished.

OK, it's 110 not 120, but at least that means you don't need negative shims 🙂
