Change the tap first - taller, shorter, longer - anything. You may get a much better sink.
We moved in and out kitchen had the Ikea Belfast sink knock-off. Hated it. Changed the tap and now love the combo.
Taps are easy to change over.

What kind of tap is it, a lot of them don't have a proper aerator so the water sprays everywhere when it hits a surface.

I fucking hate our kitchen sink. The tap is always in the wrong place no matter how you position it and the way the sink itself is designed, if you don't position the tap properly, it will piss water everywhere. Point 1 exascerbates Point 2. We are not likely to redo the kitchen for some time. How common/easy is it to replace just the sink and tap? Am I going to create more headaches than I solve?
